How many companies (let alone contractors) do you know that have been in business for over 142 years? We can name at least one - Winding Roofing Company, Inc. Winding Roofing Company is the oldest continuously operating roofing contractor in Wisconsin, having been established in 1873 by George Winding, a Danish immigrant.

In 1892, George served as the president of the National Roofing Contractors Association. In more recent times, Fred Winding, Sr., grandson of George, led the company for many years. Fred was a member of the Rotary Club of Milwaukee for 64 years. He was past president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, a director of the Better Business Bureau and the Zoological Society of Milwaukee County.
