We found Jeff through Armstrong design and are very happy we did. Jeff immediately understood our vision and was enthusiastic about helping us realize our vision. We had an empty-slate backyard that only needed a couple of trees removed before we could begin. We now have a beautiful horizontal cedar fence, tiled hardscape, a water feature and gas fire pit, a lush lawn, trees, and an array of plants that create the Asian-inspired tranquility we envisioned. Jeff is easy to work with and his crew, including, Ezequil, Norberto, Sal, and Donald worked super hard and were courteous and respectful to our home, the (frequent) changes we wanted, and in helping us make great decisions when we were uncertain. Jeff makes sure his work is done right and is built to last. We will use San Diego Land Care in the future and we recommend their work.

We are in awe at the level of quality work SDLC does. Absolutely zero corners cut, everything done right and done to last for many many years. Jeff and his crew are so easy to work with and very communicative. Jeff checked in with us daily, in person almost always, but if for whatever reason he wasn't able to he always made sure to call early in the work day as well as after the day's work was over.

His entire crew was extremely professional and able to answer any of my questions as well. They all communicated any changes that were made with anyone that was on our project promptly so everyone was always on the same page. Again, attention to detail and level of quality are incredible. The peace of mind we have knowing everything was done correctly and will never have to be replaced or fixed is priceless. I have already recommended SDLC to friends and will be using SDLC for our next project.

I am very happy to have worked with this company! They are extremely professional and efficient, Very knowledgeable on plants as well. They had a friendly crew that would not finish the project until every detail is complete. Highly recommend!

Jeff has a good eye and is generally prompt and communicative. He took great care to ensure that we would get the design we wanted. We had one minor misunderstanding but he took care of it the next day. Crew was hardworking and fastidious and didn't complain when a few plants had to be repositioned.

Jeff and his team completed a reboot of our backyard during the past several weeks, and we had a great experience both with him and his team. Jeff is pretty hands on, and was closely involved in the project, and in doing so was personally involved in ensuring things turned out well. His costs were reasonable, and he worked with us to scope and plan the project in a way that was optimal (and even talked us out of some things that we thought we wanted to do, but after his feedback, i'm glad we didn't do). He stood behind the budget he quoted, and when we added items to the scope, he continued to offer reasonable prices (and did not take advantage of scope changes).

San Diego Land Care was recommended to us by Armstrong's Gardening to complete our backyard landscape project. Jeff Stapleton and his team did a wonderful job bringing the landscapers plans to life and had a few good recommendations along the way. He was out there on numerous days working with his crew to complete the backyard quickly, the only delays were caused by unavailable materials from Armstrong's. He is very responsive to calls and came out multiple times to fine tune our irrigation system.

We have had Land Care at our facility about a year and would NEVER recommend them. They have charged us thousands of dollars to fix an irrigation system that was never addressed and now in this heat we need to hand water. They might be good for remodels but not for weekly maintenance.

Jeff and his crew did a great job on an our larger sized home. We had pretty extensive drought tolerant landscape with 12 zones of drip irrigation installed. This was a redo from the original home construction from 4 years earlier. too bad we didn't use Jeff from the beginning. I would definitely recommend Jeff, and his knowledgeable advice for soil chemistry and what it takes to make a garden thrive. They also built the custom veggie garden for my wife, and installed a granite path leading to artificial turf. It all looks great!

Made an appointment for complete hardscape construction; including pavers, turf putting green, driveway, block fencing, paver walkway, fountains. But representative canceled at the last minute. This company came highly recommended but if they are able to cancel an appointment for an extremely large project, their reputation is worthless. Skilled labor is one thing but dependability is the foremost skillset!

Jeff Stapleton has worked on several small projects for us, most referred by Armstrong Nursery. He has always applied his experience and expertise in assessing the work to be done, giving a reasonable estimate in good time, responding promptly to questions and coordinating with the landscape designer. He and his crew are very professional and they really know their stuff. I appreciate the advice and we have a great front and back yard as a testament.

We had a small project for our backyard. Jeff came out to inspect out place and discuss options. He was professional and kind. He actually made suggestions that we had not even considered and was also cost friendly. Our project was completed before schedule and our backyard is beautiful. We just hosted our anniversary party!

There is a 100% difference between what the existing, no design, landscape when I moved in, to the new & improved finished project. He is VERY knowledgeable of all of the Plants & what will work in your particular area!.

He designed a Waterfall that is Jaw Dropping & an amazing feature, which also cuts down on Street noise. He lighting is right on. He always is in contact & if you need him, he or his his staff is at the job immediately. I would HIGLY Recommend Jeff & San Diego Land Care!

Jeff and his crew did a major project updating the outdoor space at our home. Things started well, but soon the foremen started changing out every couple of weeks and the communication between us and the various staff and sub contractors got more and more difficult. When things went wrong, it was not the fault of anyone doing the work and one particular sub contractor threatened to steal beer out of my garage to "make up the difference" in the obviously bad contract he had negotiated working for San Diego Land Care.

We ended up with a change order due to improper scoping of the retaining wall, which added over $8000 to the job and a never completed punch list which we ended up forcing a refund check out of the company over. The yard was never properly graded and to this day is still a mess. We are considering a second project to finally correct the mistakes made by San Diego Land Care.

By the end of the ordeal while repetitively calling trying to get the punch list completed, I finally ended up in an argument with Jeff and he refused to talk to me again from that moment on. The customer is not always right, it would appear. This experience was a few years back, but in retrospect, the bid may be cheaper, but there is a reason for it.

They can do the job and honestly did much of the work very well, so if you decide to risk it, just be sure to hold back the maximum percentage of the total payment to ensure the work is done right and the final punch list completed.

Jeff has done at least five projects for us, because he is the best, most professional and most responsive person we have dealt with, I cannot recommend him more highly, which is why he is certified by Armstrong.

I too used Jeff Stapleton as a preferred irrigation specialist as recommended by Armstrong's over a year ago- He Did not do the 3 month follow up as promised and our new tree of focal point died due to significant over watering- or other - I am not certain but the ground around the tree we noted is completely saturated now with very foul smelling water and all surrounding plants have died due to excessive watering. T his CAN NOT be blamed on landscape service because this tree was planted in a planter surrounded by artificial turf- Jeff is the only guy that had any thing to do with the planting an watering of this tree. Armstrong's and my self have reached out to Jeff for the last 4 months to get him to fix the problem and replace the tree that Armstrong's is taking care of - and he will not return any emails or calls. HORRIBLE Follow up service. I will change my review if Jeff will just call me back and replant the new tree and fix the irrigation as promised in the contract

I contacted Jeff for an estimate for landscape lighting. He arrived for the appointment on time and emailed the estimate to me within hours of initial meeting. Jeff walked the property and recommended lighting ideas and had samples of the pathway and spot lights with him. I met the project manager that day and they installed the lighting later that week. In addition to lights, he split and replanted bird of paradise and trimmed some of my hedges. I'll be calling him soon for additional landscape projects.

After hiring a Landscape Designer from Armstrong Garden Center to transform my yard into an oasis, the contractor they recommended was Jeff Stapleton from San Diego Land Care. Since he came recommended from my landscaper, I trusted her judgement. I had my initial meeting with my landscape designer at the end of March and did not hear back from Jeff until May 14th with a bid for several projects.

I thought this was a little long to wait, but I was patient and went along with the process. In the initial bid, I was provided the following bid: Demolition and haul off of tile, soils, turf, plants- debris- $585, front porch- $1680, Concrete pump- $325, Flagstone paths- $1180, Irrigation- $1860- for a total of $5305.00. After some back and forth discussions with Jeff (well, my landscaper since Jeff was difficult to get in touch with) on my expectations and desires for my yard, I received a final bid.

The final bid, received June 11th included the following charges: Demolition and haul off of concrete and tile, soils, turf, plants- debris- $1785, front porch- Saltillo tiles (not including cost of decorative tile)- $3680, Concrete pump- $325, Flagstone paths- $1180, Irrigation- $1860- for a total of $8860.00. It should be noted I was out of state and on the East Coast for military training during the duration of Jeff's involvement with my project- and getting in contact with Jeff was always challenging.

I was told Jeff would begin the hardscaping portion of this project so my yard would be complete prior to me returning home at the beginning of July. I was told Jeff's crew was at home home on Wednesday June 17th to begin tearing out the porch. This never happened. Then I was told he would begin work Monday June 22nd. This never happened either.

I received a phone call from Jeff on Tuesday June 23rd- the first one in several weeks- with a promise to begin work the next day. Jeff then explained how his company was charged a fee of 2.75% for utilizing my credit card for the $850 deposit and I needed to compensate him for this fee. I expressed my concern for this request- having never been asked to pay for fees such as these. Jeff then explained how the fees would be over $250 for the entirety of the project and I was responsible for these fees.

None of this was covered in the contract. Additionally Jeff told me I needed to get $2500 to him by the next day. He asked if this was possible for me to get money wired to him in less than 24 hours- and after telling him I would have to look into it once I got home from work- he again insulted me. After berating me for several minutes, I kindly told him "you don't have to talk to me like a child"- which set him off again.

From my understanding, the deposit was the only thing owed until the completion of the project. Jeff then insulted me and stated I obviously didn't read the contract- and the contract states I must pay installments. The contract states "Progress payment billing based on work completed." I told Jeff I didn't believe I should pay him anything as of yet since he had not begun work- even when he was slated to begin the previous week- and then the prior Monday.

I expressed my frustrations for him delaying the job without even notifying myself or my landscape designer. She was under the belief he had already begun working as well. Jeff then told me he was done talking to me for the day- and then abruptly told me he's not going to do the job and he will refund my deposit before hanging up on me. I was very taken aback with his blatant rudeness and how he handled a simple conversation.

After accepting his bid and waiting for feedback on when the job would begin, I feel I was more than patient and understanding with his schedule. The only push back I gave was wanting to have a full understanding and cost breakdown on what exactly I was spending $8800 on- all while trying to coordinate from across the country. In my opinion, Jeff was very unprofessional and rude and I will be sure to let all of my friends know to seek a contractor elsewhere.

I hired them for a landscaping service at our place after being recommended by some close friends. Their estimates were great and the designs they showed to us were really amazing. The result was truly astounding.

San Diego Land Care cleared, grated, and prepared our approx. 40 ft long slope in the backyard. Keystone blocks were added to retain sections of the slope along with a new drip irrigation system. Drought tolerant plants and trees were plants were added. The entire job was completed in less than 2 weeks. We are so thankful for the efficient project planning and work scheduling.

The workers were most always there as scheduled and if they was a change in plans Jeff Stapleton would inform us ahead of time. He would touch base with us daily to see how we were feeling about the progress. Jeff was particularly patient with us when we started second-guessing plans and he would help us think it through by offering suggestions, drawings, and visual staging.

We ultimately trusted his opinion which always seemed to right. We would hire San Diego Land Care again without hesitation. In fact, we plan to continue regular monthly yard maintenance with them We love our beautiful new yard.

My experience with San Diego Land Care has been a very positive one to say the least. After I had a landscape design architect prepare a plan to my family's satisfaction, I preceded to contact three contractors who prepared estimates to implement this plan.

San Diego Land Care is exactly what I wanted out of my landscape contractor. My wife had interviewed two other contractors to redo our backyard before we meet with Jeff Stapleton. Jeff's was on time, friendly, knowledgeable and honest.
