Kevin and his team have completed four projects for us (2 basements and a main floor/ 2 kitchen remodels, in separate homes). We use them over and over again because they provide professional and quality work that is just what we asked for. Kevin is always open, honest, and up-front about cost and timelines. O'Brien Construction is head and shoulders above the rest! He, and his subcontractors, are completing a very complex master bathroom remodel for us right now. We are 4 weeks in to a 6 week project and it is PERFECT! We had a 20 year old Richmond track home with a standard master bathroom on the 2nd floor (directly above our kitchen). It had a useless walk in closet, tiny shower, carpet, etc...

The new plan is quite complex - remove existing wall and replace with new wall 17" further into the bedroom (done), recessed barn door entrance (done), enlarging existing windows (done), moving the shower from one side of the bathroom to the opposite corner and making it a roll in shower (done), removing the walk in closet and making a 12 foot reach in closet with 6 glass sliding doors (that can open fully in one direction or the other (done), a freestanding tub with filler that replaces a drop in tub (done), heated floors (done).

His tile subcontractor just completed the travertine walls and wood grain tile flooring, with a parquet wood design inside the shower. His tile subcontractor was meticulous in every detail. Kevin was meticulous in every detail (design, estimate and contract) and worked diligently with us to plan and order everything before construction started. His references were excellent and everyone had used him for multiple projects.

We had a different contractor (fully vetted with references and contract) for our basement (big name - runs multiple projects at one time) and it was far more problematic and stressful. Unlike that experience, this has been a smooth and enjoyable project! We chose Kevin specifically to avoid a repeat of our basement experience. Kevin is on site every day and for every inspection.

He does one project at a time to ensure quality. We passed every inspection on the first try. He has an incredible HEPA system to keep the house clean and vacuums the work area every evening before leaving. He put down tarps everyday and removed them every night. We are living in a construction zone yet it is really not a problem because of his consideration for the cleanliness of our living environment and his work area. What a great guy and company to work with on any remodel project!

We have used O'Brien Construction for three different projects: 1. master bathroom; 2. guest bathroom, powder room and laundry room; and 3. kitchen, foyer, stairs and upstairs hallways. However, Kevin's approach to the project which incorporated a well thought through project plan, open and honest communication as to costs, change orders and project milestones, listening to our needs, ideas and concerns and attention to quality workmanship and cleanliness resulted in beautiful and modern bathrooms and a very satisfied customer. When we decided to remodel our basement, there was only one obvious choice to perform this work. Kevin once again, did not disappoint.

Kevin & all of his subcontractors were wonderful to work with on our recent remodeling project. We had both upstairs bathrooms gutted & remodeled, as well as replacing all flooring on that level. This was a large project for us, but Kevin & his team made it actually enjoyable. Kevin took care of all the details. We always knew what was happening next & everyone was extremely professional & you could tell they took real pride in their work. Also, all of the vendors Kevin sent us to exceeded our expectations.

We love, love, love the finished product! All of it turned out better that I could have imagined. Just as important has been Kevin's follow up. We've had a few minor issues pop up afterwards. Kevin has responded quickly & made sure these were resolved to our satisfaction. Kevin's estimate was not the lowest we received, but it was certainly the most detailed & accurate in the long run. For this project, we appreciated having Kevin on the job daily & running things so smoothly.

From the beginning I could tell Kevin was in a different league than the other contractors that I talked to. He is very professional and only hires sub-contractors that meet his high standards. We agreed on changes along the way as mold and other hazards were found.

We just moved to the area and had no local contacts for remodeling. We interviewed several remodeling firms and after meeting with Kevin, it was clear who our choice was going to be. Kevin showed up prepared and early to every meeting we had with him.

When the time came to finish our basement we had many choices for contractors. After meeting with 3 others that we felt just didn't match our expectations we called O'Brien Construction. Kevin sat with us for over an hour listening to what we had planned and offered alternatives without disregarding our original ideas.

WOW! 'Is this the same bathroom?' That is everyone's reaction to our remodeled bathroom. We had an outdated, barely usable basement bathroom in our Washington Park Bungalow. Kevin and his team removed the entire bathroom and re-did everything. We now have a walk-in shower, clawfoot tub, vent fan, and new lighting.

To Whom it may concern: I had to write a note to let you know just how fantastic our new bathroom looks. We had a party over the holidays and all of our guests simply loved the new bathroom! I think it was a bigger hit than the party itself! The heated floor is just too good to be true, as this bathroom was always cold and never seemed to warm up.
