Kyle Chan Architect

We had a good recommendation for Kyle from our neighbor, who had also had a construction project done. We decided to go with him for our project, adding a second story addition on our house. We were pleasantly surprised. He was very responsive by email and by phone. He would set up meetings when necessary. He though through how the house would actually be used, and cleverly turned what might have been a simple functional stairwell into a path that feels open and airy, with great natural light and a place for features such as plants and vases.

He would listen to our wants and needs and provide feedback on what was possible, even making a last-minute change we requested. He was very helpful in guiding us through this project. Because of him and our general contractor (whom he recommended), our project was not a mess like some we have heard of, but a great success.

As a first time home remodeler, I can say that I couldn't have found a better architect than Kyle Chan. Kyle is knowledgeable, understanding, responsive and detail oriented. He listened to our preferences and helped guide us to make the best decisions. Kyle understands the building permit process and made the experience extremely smooth for us. He also recommended a professional general contractor who did high quality work. I would definitely work with Kyle again if there's another opportunity.

Kyle was the architect for our remodel project. We expanded our house by adding additional area and changed the layout in the existing area of the house. We selected Kyle after having interviewed several other architects. Kyle is an excellent architect and we were very lucky to get him for our project. Since he was busy with other projects we waited for some time before Kyle could start on our project. Kyle is very professional, detail oriented and thorough.

He is extremely knowledgable and experienced in every aspect of a residential project. At our request, he also made recommendations for several good contractors and after interviewing them we selected a contractor from his list of recommendations. Kyle worked closely with us throughout the entire project, listening to our requests and questions, explaining pros and cons of different design / structure / construction aspects.

Throughout the planning, design, and construction phases, he checked in with us on a regular basis, answered questions we had along the way and incorporated our feedback. Having Kyle through our remodel project journey from start to end through planning, design, city permit, construction phases definitely gave us a lot of confidence to have it completed smoothly in a timely manner.

Kyle was my architect for expanding 3000+ sf feet of my house including a basement in Saratoga. We changed the designs a few times due to some requests from the city planning and my wife's changing mind, he was very professional in laying out the drawbacks and the benefits for each opions so we could make a well thoughtout decision. He tried very hard on accommodating my needs in the rather complicated design (3 structures) and always willing to give me advices on other things outside of the SOW. I interviewed a few other candidates and very happy to picked him over others who offered lower rate. After all, he is a great guy to work with.

Our work with Kyle was very smooth. He first gave us 4 draft plans for us to choose from, different style, different budget etc. He then very patiently listen to our thoughts and adjust the plans accordingly. Kyle also gets a bulk idea of each plan's cost, to help us keep our cost in budget. Kyle was very professional, he knows exactly what San Jose and Cupertino city requirements, at what time they will make any changes, what exactly they are changing. He knows everything in his mind that he can tell us right in the middle of our conversation.

Kyle did a fantastic job! He turned our blah ranch into a modern marvel. The focus was on the outside and the interior living spaces, i.e. kitchen, living room, dining room. He created 3 different renditions for us and we ended up going with one of the original designs, no changes. We turned our galley kitchen into an open layout with a big island, open to the dining room, but kept the privacy to the living room. It's perfect for the way we live. Kyle really listened to what we wanted and how we use the space and was able to give appropriate solutions.

He also stood by us through the permitting process and was always available for questions. We couldn't have done it without him. He also referred us to an excellent contractor and we're so happy with the whole project.

I needed an architect for our house expansion project due to our growing family with a tight budget in mind. After interviewing a few in the area, Kyle stood out because he understood our situation and really created the design based on our needs. He's very easy to work with and super quick to respond to all my questions. He is very reachable by a simple phone call.

Throughout the project, there were many other contractors involved and Kyle made great recommendations on all of them. Kyle was also well recognized in our City Building/Planning Department. When I went in to submit a plan change, the City Clerk was impressed by how organized the files were following their submission rules. When she looked up the architect name, her respond was: "oh, it was from Kyle Chan.

No wonder!" I'm very thankful I found Kyle for our project. I've recommended him to a few friends who are looking for an architect. I will definitely give him a call for our project phase II.

After researching and interviewing several other architects we were very impressed by Kyle's honest candor and expertise in this area. As his portfolio was full, we waited patiently for 6 months to finally start our project with him. Anyone getting access to him is truly lucky. He has the diligence in going several extra miles to satisfy the customer.

He was patient and made several models for us to choose from and additionally came up with any refinements that we sought. Our home was designed both from an external elevation and from an interior harmony in keeping with key elements of Form, Fit and Function. while fully researching our needs. We are extremely happy in our new home and would recommend him heartily to anyone anytime. looking for a strong architect with great education and experience in projects both at a large scale and smaller level satisfying all budgets. He is truly the best architect in the S. Bay from our perspective!

Kyle was patient, friendly, and willing to work through changes. He worked with us for 2 years planning and building a brand new house, and we are pleased with the results. He walked us through the planning process and was very helpful as well during the construction phase (even though that wasn't strictly his territory). We appreciated Kyle's professional demeanor and knowledge.

Whenever we had an idea, he always found a way to incorporate it into the design. In addition it was helpful that whenever we were faced with a decision, Kyle drew multiple solutions that we could choose from. Lastly, Kyle is very responsive to emails and phone calls- this might seem trivial but it really isn't when building a house/completing a project!

I was referred to Kyle by one of his clients and my results were as satisfying as theirs. We wanted to add a master suite, relocate kitchen to create an open living space and create a new front entrance. Kyle listened to our needs and made it more beautiful and user friendly than we envisioned. Kyle's design brought a style to our 1956 house and visitors often stated the house feel larger than actual.

A few neighbors commented on how nice our new front looks and how nicely it fits into our neighborhood. Now we have finished the construction, I am happy to say there was no surprise - Kyle's design came with all important details such as kitchen cabinet layout which made our construction project so much easier. As this is our first remodeling project, Kyle talked us through the whole process in our first meeting. His fee is pre-set and he also made clear there is a separate structure engineering fee in my case. No surprise. He got the city permit without any problem. I would recommend Kyle's work whole-heartedly.

Kyle is really awesome! He has excellent communicate skills and always tries his best to fit your schedule and your vision for the home. Kyle is a great Architect in many aspects. He is very busy in general but once on board and project starts, he takes care of your project from start to finish. He is detail-oriented, knowledgeable, responsive and has lots of reference and suggestions in many areas. He is willing to mediate issues between home owner and general contractor. Even after final inspection, he does final walk through with home owner and lists up any unfinished job so that general contractor does the final touch.
