Jay Landscaping

I am not one to leave reviews, but I am incredibly disappointed in the service received from Jay's landscaping. hired them to plant a new lawn summer of 2020. They did not grade away from the house and when I questioned this they said they created a channel so that it would flow to the sides. They used very little topsoil and wasted some planting part of a lot that isn't ours and then ran out by the time they were done with the front yard but assured me it would grow just fine.

It didn't. There was confusion as to where the back yard would end when we requested quote (apparently my husband confused them). When I told them the day of planting it was to go back further they said they would have to charge me more which I agreed to assuming that meant they would be getting more topsoil for the job, but they did not. They simply put less topsoil down everywhere on top of clay soil, so you can imagine how well that went.

As mentioned they planted outside our lot in the back, but in the front completely missed part of our side lot leaving it tall weeds, etc. When I reached out to them about this they said they would come back. They weren't able to come back that summer so they said they would do it in spring 2021. Between planting and spring 2021 we discovered that, surprise surprise, water was not draining away from the house and the "channel" they created to flow water off the lawn and away from the house was holding the water and creating muddy pools along the entire back of our house.

I stayed in contact with Jay's sending them pictures of the standing water and they assured me they would fix in in the spring when they came to do the part of the front side lawn they missed. They came to take a look in the spring and said they couldn't regrade but would add more topsoil and that should help the standing water. I wasn't happy about this but despite everything I was still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

They said they would come when it was warm enough. Didn't hear from them. Followed up and was told two weeks. Never heard from them and haven't heard from them since. Over the summer of 2021 I have had multiple landscapers come to give me quotes on shrub planting, etc. Every single one asked me who planted our lawn and commented that they did a terrible job, saying they they didn't grade it properly and that it didn't look like they used any topsoil.

I am absolutely disgusted by they amount of money paid for such horrible quality. For my lawn to look normal, and I say normal because I'm not one who cares about perfect dandelion free grass, I would have to pay someone else to do it all over again. They came highly recommended, which is why I chose them, but BEWARE.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mika and her crew to anyone. Their work was excellent, fairly priced, and completed in a timely manner. They left the work site totally cleaned up when they finished. Additionally, they are just all around nice, honest, and hard working people.

We have used Jay's Landscaping for the last several years and have been extremely pleased with the quality of their work from start to finish. We have used them for lawn services, tree & stump removal and lawn seeding. They were respectful of my ideas of what I needed to have done and in each case provided me with options that were both aesthetically pleasing and budget conscience.

They recently finished repairing an area of my property where a retaining wall had fallen and even with the amount of rain we have had recently, they finished the job quickly and the quality of work was tremendous. I have to say this is one of the best services I received in a long time. Don't usually write reviews but this one deserves one. Service performed was above any expectation you will receive from Landscaping service. They truly went above to finish they project. Now my lawn looks like it was cut out from colorful book. Simply astonishing. I definitely recommend their services and will for sure hire them again. Since winter is coming, I figure gotta have my snow cleaned.
