Friends of ours recommended J & B Cabinetry to us and we were very happy that we went with them. Our old 1963 kitchen had to be completely gutted including the soffits and Bill was very helpful in directing this process. He recommended who to work with to replace drywall which was helpful as we had no idea who to use for this. From start to finish, Bill was as prompt as he could be between having our kitchen measured, to ordering the cabinets, to installing them.

My only complaint really was my own misunderstanding I think. I was used to my old 1963 kitchen where the upper cabinets flowed left to right in one full swoop and not cut up in separate cabinets. I should have asked more questions in the design phase. But over all I'm very happy. The only other tiny complaint is that because the cabinets really go 3 inches from the one wall, (and not all the way to the wall, there is a bit of dead space there) they aren't exactly custom, but it appears they have sizes they choose from to get your cabinets to fit the best.

I thought they were really custom inch by inch. However when they measured for the brand new appliances to fit in the cabinets, they all fit like a glove including the wall oven, built in microwave, and new refrigerator. I read other reviews and I was never pressured to buy appliances or hardware thru J & B and bought my own online. Overall I'm thrilled with my kitchen and really have absolutely no complaints that I went with J & B. For me they were an answer to prayer.

My wife and I started from scratch looking for cabinets for our kitchen and bath remodel. We looked for over a year and at numerous businesses, visited lots of displays. That's how we found J B Cabinets. Once we looked at the quality of their cabinets we were sold. The owners Bill and Peggy run the business. You receive personal attention from each of them as you go from the process of planning to completion.

To say my wife and I are pleased with the final product is an understatement. The quality of their work is as good as I've seen and I'm 68 years old. Please do yourself a favor. Visit their showroom. You'll be glad you did.

Although we ended up going a different direction with our home remodel, I would recommend you consider J&B Fine Cabinetry. Hunter went above and beyond with his design.

I am writing to share my experiences working on a kitchen project with Bill, Peggy and Hunter of J&B Fine Cabinetry and to express my personal opinions. The project included creating a cabinet to hide the washer/dryer. While there were some positive elements as described below, my overall experience was extremely negative. Granted, the cabinet was visually stunning. However, the cabinet was effectively too small to accommodate the washer/dryer and all of the related components. J&B did not allow sufficient tolerance for the vent, plumbing, electrical, etc. to fit between the wall and behind the appliances.

When I raised the issue with Bill, he was quick to shift the blame to my contractor and subs. Bill told me that I should have used subs with greater expertise. However, my contractor is one of the finest in Tampa. My plumber has more than 30 years' experience, and my electrician has more than 40 years' experience in the industry. Regardless of any argument Bill might advance, the cabinet's interior space was simply too tight. J&B did not leave adequate room for the valves, the electrical components or the natural twists and turns of the vent and the hoses which are necessary to operate the washer and dryer.

I incurred significant additional costs in order to work-around these issues. These costs were due to J&B's inadequate design and had nothing to do with the workmanship of my subs. I initially shared my concerns with Bill and Peggy and attempted to address these issues using a courteous, professional tone. Things rapidly went from bad to worse. Bill immediately became defensive and belligerent. Peggy argued that I had no room to complain since I had accepted the cabinets once I paid for them. However, at the time I made final payment, the cabinets had not even been delivered to my house--so how could I have been expected to accept the cabinets even before I had seen them?

As stated above, the washer/dryer cabinet looks nice from the outside. I give J&B an "A" for Visual Appeal. However, the design of the cabinet itself fell far short of what was needed for the application. I give J&B a "D minus" for Cabinet Design and Functionality. In addition to spending tons of extra money to fix the poor design, I still cannot fully open the soap drawer on the washer.

When I brought this to Bill's attention, he said "Of course you can't fully extend the drawer. It's 'simple math'." Peggy brushed it off by saying it was a minor problem. Would you want to have your concerns addressed by the owners of the company in this manner? That's not the level of customer service I had in mind when I hired J&B. I tried very hard to stay positive with J&B, but unfortunately we were unable to come to an acceptable resolution.

Should Bill attempt to stifle any criticism contained in this review or to try to discredit the author by posting a reply, I recommend that you consider the source and then go elsewhere.

Bill and Peggy have remolded two kitchens for us and we were thrilled with how both of them turned out. From the planning stage to completion, they were a pleasure to work with and kept us up to speed every step of the way. Their design ideas and the quality of the cabinets exceeded our expectations.

When we first walked into the J&B Fine Cabinetry showroom in St Petersburg we felt like I had finally found the place that could replace my outdated kitchen and guest bathroom. We had visited so many cabinet makers and their showrooms but none suited our need for quality merchandise and experienced designers. We were greeted by the owners, Bill Parr and Peggy Yenny, with more than 25 years' experience in the cabinetry and design business.

Their showroom is certainly a reflection of this experience showing several full cabinetry displays along with a full working kitchen. Bill took us on a tour of the showroom showing us the displays of cabinet doors, handles and knobs, counter top materials, and photos of his designs and finished work. We were very impressed as we had never had anyone take so much time with us.

We were never pressured and after one or two more meetings and a home visit where Bill took some measurements, we received our first design. The whole process from beginning to end was very smooth. The installers were professional and left the areas clean every day. Bill and Peggy were always available to answer our questions and promptly returned our calls.

Their advice was invaluable when making choices about style, design and color. Bill and Peggy were so easy and friendly to work with and I would certainly refer them to all my friends.

Hey Ed, We are so pleased with what you did to our bathrooms, what a difference! It was great working with you, because you were receptive to what we wanted, you did what you said you were going to do when you said you were going to(which is very refreshing in todays world)and when there was a problem with the shower door, you kept on it until it was right.

We Love J&B Fine Cabinetry. Bill and Peggy and their staff are easy to work with, professional, talented, dependable and wonderful. They have designed and installed our last 2 kitchens and we will always use and recommend them. We met in 2004, when we decided we wanted to stay in our home and design our dream kitchen. It was an odd shaped room and we didn't want to knock down any walls. Bill's design was very functional, fit in the space and was beautiful.

We are just ordinary cooks, but everything tasted better and was easier to prepare in the new kitchen. It was a fun experience and not the nightmare everyone says about remodeling. The project was on time and on budget. Thanks to Bill and his team. They advised us, when we asked with honest answers, which helped us manage the whole project, not just the design and cabinets.

We told everyone we knew what a great job they did and would recommend them. We had an opportunity to move and it was difficult decision because we loved our kitchen. It's what sold our home. When we moved into our new home the kitchen was lovely, but not functional for our large family holiday dinners. At the first chance last spring (2016) we were able to remodel, we called Bill.

He and Peggy met us and we got to work on designing the second kitchen of our dreams. The new kitchen is so beautiful. Friends and family say it looks so much better in person. The pictures on facebook looked good but it looks awesome in person. Again the remodel, stayed within our existing walls, with changes in plumbing & lighting. Bill and the team came in on time and on budget.

Everyday they worked at the house, they would leave as clean or cleaner than when they arrived. They were very respectful of our home and us, because we stayed home during the remodel. We trust Bill, Peggy and their team and they always comes thru for us. Our only fear or complaint is they might retire and not be available to remodel another kitchen if we move again.

I started my kitchen remodel looking into refacing or replacing with stock cabinets. Both options would have costed thousands. Based on a friend's recommendation, I looked into J&B Cabinets wondering how much custom would cost. After a phone call, Bill came out to measure in two days and a week later, I had an estimate that was affordable. Since they carry multiple lines of cabinets, he was able to match me with one that was within my budget.

And even though it's their bottom line, it's still way above what you would get as a prefab, like soft close hinges and undermount railing. I then scheduled a meeting with Peggy who went over the design with me, cabinet by cabinet. We added some pull outs, trash pulls etc., trying to maximize my storage. We paired the cabinets with samples of granite and quartz. Again, they offer different lines for different budgets; not once were they pushy.

We have come to a final design and it's beautiful. The most pleasant part of this was Peggy and Bill made it so easy for me, a working mom of two. Peggy and Bill can design you a $6k or $60k kitchen all the while treating you like you're designing the latter. I will update once the cabinets are installed, but I'm confident all will turn out well like my friend's. Update: It's been two months since the cabinets and counter tops were installed.

I love my new kitchen and layout. So much more functional. I didn't realize how much wasted space there was in my old kitchen until now. There is a place for most of my items instead of just leaving them out on my counters or top of fridge. I'd like to say my counters are all cleared off like you see in magazines, but my kids like the new counters too! To display all their toys! Thanks J&B.

Bill Parr - the last day he was nice and professional was the first day we handed him a check, 50% of the total payment. Job was $46,000 to him, plus $20,000 to his preferred appliance vendor (read: forces you to use, and aggressively belittles otherwise, as he gets cut on hardware etc.) As soon as we gave him the 50% down, he was huffy with any phone calls.

Another person using him at same time said she was belittled by him for being the woman, man should make the money decisions, can't she (Snell Isle?!?) afford to just buy the hardware through him? (We bought cabinet hardware through him - so he got his cut - yet others who say "I can find this cheaper elsewhere get aggression from him). He added a $1,000 "project management" fee.

I used to be a PM. He PM'd nothing. Completely reactive. My husband and I had to prompt him 2 months after we wrote him that big check - hey - shouldn't we be making some key decisions, appliances etc? He was like "Oh, yeah, so - go down to this store and make some picks." (While in the sales meeting, they sold us on all the high touch consulting they do and on how his girlfriend Peggy is a designer to work through decisions).

No offense to her, but she was mis-represented. When it came to backsplash decisions, she just smiled and nodded. Our installer was the only one who knew about finishes, layout etc. Bill really mis-sold things. And when communication repeatedly broke down, he owned nothing. Blamed others on his team. Blamed Brian our awesome amazing cabinet installer.

He blamed Pavimento when HE forgot about a granite decision change (we have the e-mail chain, thank goodness.). He was last minute on things. And whereas other people could handle simple questions (Brian, Pavimento, our floor workers, Seer, all great), if we called Bill to check on things, he'd say "Just call my girlfriend Peggy - I'm in the field, I'm in the field." We'd call Peggy and she'd say "Uh -I'll have to check with Bill on that." And when we gave him the balance of the massive payment, he didn't even look us in the eye.

Just kept eye on check. Yet - everyone else that was here - was great. Example re: handling issues, our floor co made a big mistake, but no one argued. They just said "Yeah, so let's meet and talk through the options now." That's normal. But Bill would bristle at even a QUESTION. And then if he's clearly made a mistake, he'd argue that it's fine that way (eg something we didn't choose/agree to).

And errors forced us to become predictors/managers, yet in the end when we said "b/c we had to solve all those issues, an you slightly discount that $1000 project management fee." He said "No." Oh, and our total job was far higher than we paid just him - we used professionals for everything, eg electrician. Yet when there was an electrical issue that was his issue - he refused to call a real electrician b/c it would cost him money - on OUR new kitchen.

Project ended late July, but the electrical issue continued, so in late August, then last Sept and early Oct - he came back, climbed up ladder in our kitchen, and fiddled with wires. And when I said "Bill - why don't you call a professional electrician - we paid for a pro job." He said "Get over it, this is low voltage, I can do this. I don't know what your issue is." Still have a bit of an issue in one cabinet, but never want him in house again.

Dear Ed, Our thanks for doing what you said you would do and when you said you would do it. I have worked with and around sub-contractors for over 35 years and you rank up with the best of the best. We needed your creative design help to get through this complicated project. We certainly got our monies worth.

When I first called Ed to look at my kitchen and bath, I was expecting another typical estimate. What I got instead, was a beautiful original design, which was creative to my particular needs and space, and a full spectrum of individualized services to complete the project. Ed coordinated everything for me and saw to it's details while I was busy at work.

Bill and his staff just completed a kitchen redo in a condo we recently purchased. The finished product is beautiful and of high quality. Bill is a professional who does what he says he is going to do and when he says it will be done, and his prices are competitive. What sold us though is that we were comfortable with him and felt confidant with his integrity.

Bill just finished a renovation of our kitchen and two bathrooms. His design suggestions were right on and everything turned out just as he promised. His work always was above our expectations and always on time and on budget. He is a true professional who will not except anything but excellence in his products. We would recommend him to anyone contemplating a renovation.
