Harmony Electric Co Company president, Laura Virgadamo, and master Houston electrician, Dennis Virgadamo, began the Harmony Electric company in 1985. In 1986, it was decided that the company should be moved to a more prime location; the Houston Heights. Houston Heights is known today as one of Houston's most historic districts.

After their first successful year in business at their new location, Laura and Dennis decided to incorporate the company transforming it into the Harmony Electric Co., Inc. The Harmony Electric Company, Inc. is committed to "harmony" and what it represents as it involves much more than just connecting a few wires.

Harmony Electric Co., Inc was assigned to my mother's case that I opened through American Resources (Home Warranty Co). Charles called the day prior stating that he was going to be at my mother's property between 9-10am and he did. He examined the house and indicated that he wasn't able to fix the electrical issue. Since he wasn't able to fix it; I'd have to resort to a new company.

Easy peasy right? No that was not the case. Charles started trashing my mother's home stating that he doesn't know how she's living there due to her house basically looking like trash. Mind you, it's in the early stages of remodeling. The house has been cleaned and cleared out to where it's just a big open space. The home isn't in the most pristine condition and we're currently working on that.

The issue I have was the way Charles approached my mom by berating her. He could've easily said "sorry, I don't know how to fix it" in a professional manner and that's it, but he didn't. My husband and I called his employer (Harmony Electric Co.) and spoke to Laura (the owner) to inform her of what happened in the morning between her employee and my mother.

Instead of listening to what transpired, she tried to deny it happening. I explained to her that my mother is Vietnamese and doesn't speak English but understands it. She had the audacity to say "well, how do you know she even understood what he said." I mean what kind of response is that? An easily, "I'm sorry this happened, and I will talk with Charles" would've been great but to make a comment like that?

We called to report what happened so that the issue can be addressed so that this doesn't happen again to someone else. We didn't call to argue with someone who has been in "business" since 1985 and doesn't know customer service.

I had a variety of electrical issues, one that needed prompt attention. I called Harmony Electric early this morning and Charles was at my door within a few hours. He was very thorough, fixed everything and gave me some pointers. Will use again.

I had an issue that was not an emergency but did need a response so I would know how to handle. I called three separate electricians in the area. Harmony was the first to respond, letting me know that they could not attend to it same day, but at a time in the near future. We scheduled, he came as promised, let me know what the problem was (it actually could have been more of an emergency than I imagined), told me what he needed to do to fix it and also made some recommendations for my home.

He completed without fanfare, left as small as best as I am used to electricians leaving, and the bill was not surprisingly large. You know that that can be the experience sometimes, so that was refreshing. I did hear from one of the other companies, a day or so later. The third never returned the phone call.

Previously 3 stars. Good solid work and employees seem very nice and knowledgeable. I would have given 5 stars but they need to be upfront about their paid to travel and pick up parts policy. I advise getting an upfront estimate for the job. I was trying to be supportive of local business and was open to paying hourly but I felt overcharged for time where no work was conducted.

They charge for travel time for parts.even if they forget and have to go back for more parts. So it's best to get an understanding of the total job and parts, so you aren't charged for unnecessary travel. I would use them again, but I'm going to get an estimate first. Update: Changed my rating to one star (previously 3 stars) after the false claims the owner made below and how inappropriate her response was.

If they can blatantly lie on a public forum, they are capable of doing anything. See previous poor reviews. It was not a huge discount since one should only pay for work that was done. They removed one hour charge which should have never been charged in the first place. They call that a huge discount? And I was not told that they would charge for travel from the start.

The tech brought the wrong breaker switch parts and would have to go back for the right one. The first tech likely communicated the wrong equipment which is the reason the second tech had to correct this. A customer should not have to pay for that. If they would have said this, I would have gladly asked to give me an upfront estimate before approving the work.

In addition, the tech did not wait an hour for me on a conference call. He waited 15 min (not one hour!) and I told him when he called the day before that I would be on a conference call. So the tech was well aware of this. I even have security camera footage that can prove this. As you can see from my previous review, I kindly said I would use them again but request an upfront estimate, but after this very rude response, I will not.

They charged me for 8 hours of work. When actual work done was 4 hours based on my own security camera. And they sent a tech one day and I never heard back from that tech. So they had to send a different tech where I spent another good part of my time to show the same stuff twice. Yes.time is not free, but when I had a very simple job I don't expect that to take the amount of days and hours to complete.

My wife waited all morning one day for the tech to show and he never did. They installed an outdoor ceiling fan and switch (which was the only time the baby nap time COULD have been an issue since the attic entrance was in the baby's room), 20 ft of OUTSIDE conduit to a motion light on the garage apartment ( no sleeping baby issue there) and replaced three breaker switches located OUTSIDE (no sleeping baby issue again).

That amount of work doesn't take 8 hours. They provided a so called 2 hour discount while still charging me for 6 hours which is above the amount of actual hours worked. So I have been very very patient.this was even after calling a good solid week in advance to arrange the appointment. And the sleeping baby went to bed at 2pm for one hour and They said they just needed access to the attic to run wire for the ceiling fan and would not need to go in there again. So the sleeping baby was not an issue. I am so shocked by the response of this business.

I reached out to multiple companies after an accident at home and Harmony was quick to respond by email (which was convenient) and professional. They heard me out, assured me it would be okay, and triple checked light fixtures for the peace of mind. I will keep their information on hand for anything I may need in the future. Thank you so much!

Removed two ceiling fans and replaced with light fixtures on dimmer switch. $500. No permit as required by city of Houston. Threatened me with legal action. Refused to rectify the situation. Pictures show quality of their work.

I found Harmony a few years back when I learned that our fuse box and electricity had all been wired wrong by the builder some 15 years earlier. I always wondered why the lights would dim or the microwave not heat. Once Centerpoint came out and saw, they turned off our electricity. This was a Friday in a very hot August. Harmony answered over the weekend, came out and looked, got the permit first thing Monday, and we were back in an air conditioned house by Monday afternoon. I haven't had anything as serious since that time, but Harmony has always been responsive, quick, pleasant and great to deal with. I don't go anywhere else.

This is the second time we've used Harmony. The technician that came out, Raul, was courteous and efficient. The prices are also quite reasonable -- I was really expecting the cost to be a bit higher for the job than it was. Good service, good value, can't beat that :

We contacted Harmony Electric for help with a rental property. The electrician promptly set an appointment and evaluated the house. He outlined the problems, gave me three options to fix the problems and what each option would require (e.g., labor, cost, time, etc.). We agreed to an option and he completed the work within the week. Not only were we pleased but the renter was happy with the professionalism and quality of work. I highly recommend Harmony Electric and am very happy with their professionalism, quality of work and timeliness!

Harmony Electric (Houston, TX) installed a new breaker box for me in 2014 that has worked perfectly during the past five years. A few months ago several of my indoor plugs were not working due to a short in one plug. Raul was able to identify the source of the problem within 30 minutes, and checked several sockets, and repaired one other that was not working.

This was an issue that might have taken a less experienced electrician several hours to locate. I am grateful for Harmony's honesty and integrity as a company, their respectful technicians' character, and highly recommend them to anyone wanting an experience with an ethical company. Melody D.

Raul (electrician) was an hour late to my appointment. Was able to quickly identify the problem within 15 minutes and still charged full price at $148. You would think there would be some kind of discount considering the electrician was tardy and the issue was minor. Seemed a bit unfair. Would not use this company again.

Superb service. I contacted Harmony after a surge protector failed in a house I just purchased. The home warranty wouldn't cover the replacement. Harmony came out (super punctual) and performed a replacement quickly. They were professional and courtesy. Good local electrician!

We have used Harmony several times and had great service. I'm confused about one review clamming they charged her $148 an hour. That is not their hourly rate, or has not been for us. All of the electricians we have had were courteous, professional, clean and respectful of our house. I asked the electrician to take a look at some lines on the outside of house.

He advised me to contact CenterPoint to fix them for free. When dealing with any contractor or service provider make sure you have an understanding of the rate and the expected time it will take to finish the job. I would not wait an hour for anyone to show up. I would reschedule the appointment or cancel and call another electrician.

I can't say enough great things about my experience with Harmony Electric. Calvin went above and beyond to solve our issues. He was courteous and professional from start to finish. Truly one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time. Not only did he fix everything in the house in a very reasonable amount of time and at a reasonable cost, he also found an issue with some lines behind the house - this could have developed into a serious issue, had it been left unattended. Can't recommend this business enough and will be sure to use them for any future issues.

Their electrician was on time, courteous, professional, thorough in looking for a solution -- and fixed the problem we were having in our 77-year-old home very quickly. I'll call them again for any electrical problems we experience.

Got hosed by this guy whose simple rewiring to an internal fixture didn't hold up for even 6 months. When asked, he insisted on another $150 just to come admire their previous mistakes rather than at least agreeing to stand behind his previous work. Owner was also quite condescending on the phone as well, which never helps. Sorry, I can tolerate incompetent-but-nice or competent-but-rude, but I can't tolerate incompetent AND rude. Fortunately, this was revealed on a little a little gig. Needing a new electrical box, downstairs wiring and with an addition four months away, I still have plenty of time to find competent/trustworthy pro with better customer service skills.

Cons: - High 1st hourly rate - If you don't choose to go with them, they charge you a full hour - very high price for a quote - Very rude lady who takes billing info - Contractor let me go to the store for him to exchange a product that he mistaken bought even though, in his mind, it was a flat priced job Pros: - Contractor they sent was nice - Contractor did a good job Full Story: I called to get a quote for a 2 part job and the man who answered told me the hourly rates and that when the contractor got there, they could give me an estimate.

The quick 10 minute estimate seemed fair and I asked how much the materials portion of the estimate was. Doing some quick math, it came out to be that the estimate was for 2 hours of work based on their hourly rates. Now, the issues likely arise from miscommunication on both sides as I should have asked specifically but I had assumed that this estimate and work being done was on a time and materials basis based on the prior conversations.

They assumed that now that they gave an estimate, it was a flat priced job. The contractor that was sent was nice and did a good job but had no parts with him. Once he returned from the store, he realized he had gotten the wrong part. Thinking this was a time and material job, I offered to exchange it for him and get the right part. My trip took 40 minutes and he had been finished with the main, more difficult, part of the job for 10 minutes or so.

He popped in the exchanged product and finished up within 5 minutes. Total time that the contractor spent quoting and working was between 1 hour and 1:15. When paying, they initially were going to charge me for 2 hours. I had assumed the cost would be for an hour or at most an hour and half of the contractors time. After talking with the man I originally spoke with, we agreed to an hour and half which is still more than I would have expected especially with consuming my own time.

Upon trying to pay with a credit card, the contractor called a woman on speaker phone to take payment details who immediately stated very loudly and rudely that they wouldn't take credit cards from me since I was getting a 'discount'. I won't be using them again even though the contractor was pretty good.

Excellent. Diligent and knowledgeable they searched and tracked the electrical line and probabilities, even climbed up through the attic. Apparently a loose connection was the cause in the attic wiring. They reconnected and everything is working well now.

I needed help repairing my front porch light; it exploded unexpectedly. My house was for sale and I needed the light repaired quickly. I found reviews of several companies. Harmony Electric had the highest of all. I was nervous about picking a random company, but the lady I spoke to initially reassured me. I was able to get an appointment on the day I called - a lucky fluke.

The gentleman took the light down, replaced the entire light with my replacement. From the start to the finish the process was quick and the electrician did a great job. I am so glad I went with Harmony and I recommend the company for your electrical needs.

Called them to find out some information about a master electrician and the older woman on the phone was VERY rude and combative. I couldn't even get out what I wanted - she kept cutting me off! Who operates like this? Really disappointing.

I live near the Heights and have used these guys for several jobs, always with solid work, courteous service, and a fair price. This has included a couple of big jobs, including replacing my entire service panel.

The electrician that came out was very nice and went with me to a couple of places to track down a new timer for my pool pump. He selected the timer and installed it. Now a couple of weeks later my pool company tells me that the wrong voltage timer was installed and this caused my pump motor to burn up.

OK, so I managed to somehow remove the base of my kitchen light fixture while trying to change a bulb (don't ask me how that happened). The fact remained that I needed to get it fixed - fast. So I called Harmony Electric. Short version: A professional, prompt company that knows how to service customers and still charge less than their competitors. USE THEM!

Long version: After the fiasco in the kitchen, I called a "Name Brand" here in Houston (who shall go nameless), and they told me that the earliest they could get someone out there was the following week. The following week? WTF? I politely told them no thank you. Then I called Harmony based on all the reviews. (You guys are so good!) Not only did the electrician make it out on the DAY I CALLED, but he was even a tad early! Wow.

He was very professional and polite. When I showed him the problem (and the replacement base that I bought at Lowe's), he told me that it was (a) an easy fix and (b) I didn't need the new base as he could reinstall my old one! WOW. Needless to say, he got the job done in no time flat and even made suggestions as to how to save money on my electric bill with wattage usage. Bigger WOW.

As for the price - his was much lower than "Name Brand" quoted on the phone. Plus, he didn't charge a service fee! Now I'm REALLY impressed. So, if you want a big or little job done with minimal headache, courteous service and a big savings for your wallet, Harmony Electric is the way to go. All these great reviews can't be wrong!

Let me start by saying I never give five stars. And I actually should deduct a star since the electrician was half an hour late and I had to call to see if they were still coming. But it was forgivable since he had a good reason for being late. The electrician was very professional and managed to fix my mess with a smile. I've done contract work, so I know the game - take your time and run up the cost.

This guy was fast - like he got right to work, came up with a novel solution to my problem, and had it installed much faster than I could have. The price was way less than I expected to pay, and after all that, they gave me a mug. They are definitely getting repeat work from me!
