Services
Electronic Security
Report
Don't let our old-school appearance fool you - our staff here at Greenwich Locksmiths are electronic security experts! We were one of the first shops to start doing alarm and CCTV systems in the 80's and have kept up with the technology ever since.
Master Key Systems
Report
In a master key system, each lock has its own key that opens only that particular door. There also exists a master key that opens all the locks in the system. As you can see above there can be multiple levels of master keys depending on your needs. Master key systems are usually found in commercial environments, but can be applied in a residential situation as well.
Safes
Report
Greenwich Locksmiths owner Philip Mortillaro is a safe expert. If you need your safe or vault opened, repaired or upgraded, he can help you. Greenwich Locksmiths is also a Gardall dealer, so you can buy any safe you see on the Gardall website through us.
Key Duplication
Report
Getting keys made that work here in New York City is not always simple. Hardware stores that have a key machine are not locksmiths, and most of the time the keys they make don't work. We understand the individual processes associated with duplicating the various manufacturers of keys in New York City.
Re-Keying
Report
The most common reason for calling us is to change your locks - fit your lock to new keys so the old ones no longer work. We proudly charge a $125 flat rate to change any lock. No matter what kind of deadbolt, door knob of any kind, Medeco, Mul-T Lock etc. we will re-key it for $125.

Philip was able to unlock an inner door for which I lost the key. He is courteous and professional, highly recommend. I use Greenwich Locksmith for copies too. They are always perfect.

This place looks like the wand shop out of Harry Potter. The owner grew up in Greenwich Village and has been a locksmith for 40 years. He is wonderful - a master of his craft and super kind. Highly recommend stopping by even if you don't need keys!

Incredible service! I took in a document safe with a failed lock mechanism, and Greenwich Locksmiths took care of it in hardly no time at all! Quick, painless, and affordable all around.

I rarely write reviews but these guys are special. Recently got some uncommon keys copied and they were able to do it. You'd think you could take this for granted but our building recently used another locksmith to copy elevator keys and they didn't work. In addition, Phil came by my apartment yesterday to change a cylinder and was able to fix an old police lock as well. They do good work, are easy to work with, and take pride in their work. Highly recommend.

The lock to my utility room failed right before a big snowstorm. Phil Jr. came through on short notice to get the door open and replace the lock. It was a tougher job than expected but he stayed late while it was snowing to get the job done. Father son team providing excellent service!

Absolutely the best in the business and worth the wait for specialty services. My antique armoire, more than 200 years old and from Sweden, suddenly had an inoperable lock and Philip took the time and care to fix it. There's no one else in town who can do these things anymore according to local sources and I'm glad he was the first person I approached for this work. He knows locks and keys like no one else.

Their keys work, which is great, but also the only reason this place is still in business given their high price point + horrendous service. I asked for 2 copies of an elevator key. The owner was on the phone and heard 3. I repeated "two" with my hand up making a v sign. The guy muttered "ok two" and went in. He came out with THREE copies of the key. $25 each.

I asked him why and he said he heard two, and added that "I don't need the money but I've already made them. What am I going to do with the extra key? If you had taken off your mask maybe I would've heard you better." At that point it became clear that it was not worth my trouble debating. After all, this place seems to have a consistent reputation online of "functional keys made by rude humans" and the first part is what matters, right? I'm just a little disappointed to confirm that it's true.

These guys are hands down the real deal. I had a broken deadbolt on my front door that I needed to get fixed. I ordered a replacement one online and tried - unaware of how hard it is to change one of these - to do it myself. It's a Muli-T-Lock and I was able to switch it out, but couldn't get the key to work. I called Greenwich for help. The owner answered the phone, could not have been nicer and tried to talk me though how to change it, to save me money!

He was incredibly kind and I was so appreciative that he was trying to help. I was worried my key was going to break in the lock, and that would have cost me much more, so I asked him to send someone. A few hours later (and right on time!) his son Phil showed up to change my lock. Turns out it was MUCH more complicated than any of us thought, but he got the job done and my lock has never worked better.

I can't recommend Greenwich Locksmiths enough, they clearly know what they're doing, are kind, patient, and I love supporting the small businesses in our neighborhood! Thanks so much!

My door was broken in multiple spots (padlock, door knob, etc) and they did a great job fixing it. Took 20 mins and my door is perfect again

Greenwich Locksmiths installed my Segal lock 45 years ago. Ten years ago my building was doing restorations and left the outside door wide open for weeks. One day I came home to find my apartment door hanging from the hinges but the lock remained secure. They were unable to get in; my neighbor was not so fortunate. Today the spring on my lock broke.

I brought the lock to Greenwich; Philip created a new spring and gave me instructions on how to reinstall. The lock is working perfectly. He would not accept payment. I live directly across the street from a large major locksmith; I would rather walk the many blocks to Greenwich Locksmith to deal with the wonderful, friendly, special people there.

Dropped by to make a copy of my keys and found out they also make copies of security key fobs as well. They were super helpful, friendly, and very fast. Made multiple copies of keys and security fobs and I was in and out in 5 minutes. Definitely a landmark of the neighborhood, I highly recommend.

Having had some problems with my door for some time, with several locksmiths attempting to fix it, I finally found a team that actually masters their craft. Greenwich Locksmiths has a deep understanding of door mechanics, brings outstanding execution (professional, responsive), are real problem solvers and deliver incredibly high quality work. Their commitment to their customers goes beyond what one normally expects - you actually should not waste your time speaking to anyone else.

Went to my friends apartment for the first time and her key/lock completely jammed and we were stuck in the hallway. Called up, answered right away and came right down in no time. Super professional and friendly. Easily the best locksmith I've ever dealt with. Thanks for helping us out!

Amazing experience here! I needed to duplicate my key fob and not many locksmiths in the city do it. I decided on Greenwich Locksmiths after all the good reviews I read online. They didn't disappoint! Phil was extremely professional and quick, and the duplicate key fob works perfectly.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST LOCKSMITH IN NYC I bent the key to my 90's Honda moped, which is discontinued and was never sold in America, something that seemed to be very difficult and hard to find blanks for. I called over 15 different locksmiths in and around the Village area, then went to 4 of them, and all of them were no help. Until I came to Greenwich Locksmith, immediately after 2 minutes of talking to them they already guaranteed me they could make me a copy.

I brought the bike over to them shortly after and within minutes he made me 2 new sets of keys and I was back up and running. These guys are the real deal, any other Locksmith in NYC is a scam. There is no other locksmith I will ever go to again. I'm very grateful for their knowledge and expertise, if it wasn't for them I would've believed the other guys who told me I need to spend hundreds of dollars to mold the key to the ignition etc. You should stop by even if you don't need new keys because they are some really awesome people and even better locksmiths.

Greenwich Locksmiths is simply the best Locksmiths in town. I've lived in Manhattan for over twenty years, and have stayed in multiple buildings that have led to lock-outs, key reprogrammings, and cutting of unique building keys, and Phil and the rest of the team at Greenwich Locksmiths has always been amazingly fast and fair in every transaction I've ever had with them.

Most recently, I had to get lock cuts for a very unique exterior door that was imported from China (they are called Baodean keys, and have a very unique curve to them). It was a Sunday (when Greenwich Locksmiths wasn't opened), so I called about ten locksmiths in the city and literally none of them had the key (in fact none of them even knew what the key was).

I decided to wait until Monday and swung by Greenwich Locksmiths; not only did they have the key, but they cut me three copies very fast and charged a great price. I can't recommend these guys enough. Phil and his team are simply the best in town!

Amazing service for amazing price and incredibly helpful staff. I wanted to get a key fob copied for an emergency and these guys were incredibly quick, flexible, and courteous. Literally had every keys and key fobs I needed so it was a perfect one stop shop for me. Highly recommend to anyone in NYC (it was totally worth coming by from Queens for me)

Excellent work done by long-time locksmiths. The tiny space is a must see for those fascinated by old keys and the creative art made by these keys. Phil's store is one of the few truly original Greenwich village locations remaining.

Great guys, father and son, little hole in a hole with so much charm. They helped me right away. Places like this is what makes New York.
