The water in your swimming pool is the most powerful element in the world. If you are not in control of that water, it will soon be in control of you. Water that escapes your pool can cause damage to your pool, pool deck, or other concrete structures close to your pool.

These are all good reasons for a pool remodel. On the other hand, you may simply want to change the color of your swimming pool by replastering. You might take that next step to building your backyard haven, such as adding a spa or creating a custom fireplace.

Homebrew bond coats are used by plaster applicators that do not care if your plaster investment lasts a long time or not. They hope it will at least last 1 year. It will not last much longer. Bond coats are synonymous with hollow plaster.

Poor quality work, will not call you back or return for warranty work. Plumbed our pool wrong and ruined the water circulation to the hot tub. Plumbing under new concrete - company just vanished as soon as paid. Filed Better Business Bureau complaint Service: Custom Swimming pool design

G&B's work on my pool this past summer was very poor quality. They have been completely unresponsive to my concerns and unwilling to meet with me to address numerous problems. In October they told my GC they could not meet until November. In November they told my GC the problems were due to the pool chemical balance and would not meet with me. Problems included breaking the auto-fill valve, leaving the spa drains capped off making the spa unusable, broken and uneven tiles as well as very poor plaster work. My GC has now brought in another contractor to address numerous issues left behind by G&B.

We contracted G&B back in March to re-plaster, retile and repair our pool and spa due to the freeze back in February. A very long process, would show up work a little ask for a check then we would not see them for weeks. Usually we received an email the night before they would show of or they would just show up. They repaired our spa that had leaks, however now that everything is completed the jet they repaired is now not working as it did prior to the repairs.

We now have gone through all of the paper work we received from G&B and have discovered as per there invoices we have paid more than they were due. Have made numerous attempts to contact them by phone (office and Greg) email and texts and have not received any response. Very poor communication through the process. Found out during the process from their workers they would leave to other parts of the state or to another state to perform commercial work. Think hard about this company.

Greg and his team did a fantastic job on our pool remodel. I had a medical condition that changed my ability to be involved with the remodel, so Greg and his team stepped up and took care of everything. We unexpectedly put our house on the market because of my medical condition and the pool probably made the difference in the top dollar selling price!

Took our old rundown pool and have made it look brand new! Great group and will walk you through the process, even if they have to advise you of problems that arise in the job once the plaster layers have been removed covering up problems that no one was aware of. Not the cheapest group out there, but when fixing up our pool we did not want to just go the cheap route.

Terrible. Total nightmare. Would NOT recommend G&B Tile & Plaster. My project cost almost twice as much as what was quoted and took 4x as long as estimated to complete (12 weeks instead of 3). However, that wasn't nearly the worst part. How I was treated by the owners and office staff was despicable. They crossed the line from bad customer service to downright rude and disrespectful.

I could give you the long list of grievances, etc. but you can tell from the other reviews they don't take any ownership or try to make things right. Once they were out of the picture the rest of my backyard renovation went great. So I'll just say my experience is consistent with the other low star reviews that are posted. This project and how I was treated left me feeling sick everyday throughout the whole process. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else, anyone else.

It took this company almost a year to complete my pool resurfacing after they started the project, left my wiring exposed, and collected most of my money by starting different aspects of the job. They tried to charge me an additional $500 to smooth the sharp edge of the slate that was used for coping claiming it was an upgrade because my wife asked if the edges would be grinded to be smooth.

Their contention was that it was a natural edge until is showed them a picture of the huge piece of slate that they had to cut down making it a cut edge and not the natural edge they claimed. The day they came to finally complete the job they made a mess on my neighbors driveway, started an argument claiming that it wasn't their company, and almost had a fist fight and called the police.

I cleaned the driveway to keep the peace. Now the power washing mark on the bottom of the pool they claim is my fault because of the treatment I have a pool service do and not the fact that he created them This company will not take any responsibility for anything they do and once they have your money you're at their mercy. I don't take lightly complaining about your company and your family's ability to make a living.

You left me no other alternative and as always, you're not taking any responsibility for anything or the length of time to complete the project. I was told a week and it took you almost year. Do you seriously want people to believe that the weeping issue caused the delay for almost a year? Yes, the details were stated on the contact but you did indeed leave wires exposed and start but did not complete the project until almost a year later.

I have attached photo from October, November and March where you can clearly see that the wires were left exposed and did not get fixed until August. You started everything you could to be able to get a much money from me possible without finishing anything. Are we to believe that the electrical or plumbing work could not be completed because of the weeping issue?

I've posed picture with three different dates that show the wires were exposed for at least 6 months. If this was done by a professional electrician then I would suggest you find another electrician. Why would I lie about the electric work and if you came to my house several times why would you choose to leave it that way. As for my neighbor's driving, why would he make it up.

I've been living here for 15 years and never had an issue with him. I never made a comment about my neighbor and I don't appreciate you lying about it. He did get irate when the first thing you say to him was that you didn't don anything when he was standing outside watching your crew. I also witness you escalating the issue by pushing up against him as if you were going to attack him.

How professional! If you were going to clean his driveway you should just done it and not start a fight with him. It was your responsibility not to escalate the situation as a professional contactor. As far as the plaster, I provided you with records of the pool chemistry and you basically told me it was my fault and did not provide and did not provide any advice.

I can post the email if you like. If you posed any pictures it was without my permission. Please show me on the contact where you're allow to post pictures with the customers permission. I would love to know how you attempted to help and what other options do I have when all you've done is come up with excuses? Why don't you show how you attempted to help? I also noticed that to failed to mention anything about the coping. I assume you agree with my assessment.

I'll have to say I was a little hesitant after reading the previous reviews but we decided to go with G&B and couldn't be happier. They kept great communication throughout the process which was appreciated. I would get email updates when work was scheduled to be done. Thanks G&B for making our pool beautiful again. Pic attached

Their work is excellent. Communication is not the strength. My only real complaint is the start up. They charge a big amount for start up and the water was never right. Also, they never programmed our pump. We ended up having to pay another pool company to complete the start up. I would recommend G&B for plaster and coping. Just don't use them for start up. I think they would agree they are not really in the start up business anyway.

They've done a couple of jobs for me in the past 12 months and I am very happy with the results. Crews showed up when they said they would and the work was completed when I was told it would be. The earlier job has held up nicely and the new, flagstone in front of my office looks beautiful. Good work. Thank you!

G&B did an awesome job. We obtained bids from several potential providers, but Greg's knowledge of gunnite, plaster and water chemistry was not matched. We entered into this re-plastering project with what we saw as minor cracks in the plaster. Greg was the only provider that suspected more than plaster cracks, and suggested complete removal of the plaster, which others did not.

Once this was done, we saw that the shell was significantly damaged. If we had gone the other repair routes, we would have spend several thousand dollars for a replaster that I'm sure would have failed in a year or two. Greg was meticulous, seeking advice from other experts and carefully guided us through the correct repair, with the most affordable option.

We are very satisfied with the end result and his/their attention to detail. His crews were always prompt, arrived when then said they would and always left the property like they found it. Very impressed with their professionalism and work ethic. Once we discovered the root of our pool problem, it was a difficult repair that Greg guided us through to get corrected properly. If you are considering a repair, I would highly recommend G&B and will serve as a reference at any time.

The review below was before they started servicing our pool. They became dishonest, non communicative, rude, and not willing to answer any questions. DO not go to this company. They put my children at risk week after week. Be careful and be warned! Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. "I was very happy with the service that was provided by Greg and his wife from beginning to end.

The process was easy and seamless. Greg was always very good at communicating and getting back to us whenever we had questions regarding the plastering of our pool and our newly installed heater. I would highly recommend this company. Thank you for making our backyard ready for summer!"

Great educational information; not only to show clients why they offer a superior product and technique, but also for smaller companies like ours, that are looking to improve techniques and better our understanding in correct plaster work.

Do not use this company! After spending thousands to resurface and tile our pool, within two months the grout began leaking through the tile. I called Greg the owner several times, before he responded. When he finally came to assess the problem, he blamed it on us. Said we used the pool too soon, and that there was a small footprint on the spa seats which started the leakage.

How ridiculous does that sound! We swam only after Greg said it was safe to do so. Also, in restarting my pool, he apparently screwed up the filter so we paid another company to install another one. Bottom line, he refused to fix the tile problem, and never returned my calls again. I travel for business, and am very busy yet as precious as my time is, I am taking him to small claims court!

I recently had my pool replastered. On Greg's website it says We strive to provide great quality and excellent communication. I can attest that from the bidding phase to post-plaster job that Greg was always on the grid, communicating and responding quickly to inquiries and questions regarding the plaster job itself.

Contracted with G&B based on the reviews (on their site - big mistake) and the technology they claimed to use. The process of blasting off the old plaster vs. using a bond coating seemed the logical choice and the pressurized injection process for crack repairs had good right-ups. Well, 4 months later we finally have a plastered pool. The problem signs began immediately. - The blasting equipment broke in the middle of the job.

The 1st half of the pool was blasted down to the gunite. After the tool was repaired, the 2nd half of the pool was left with plaster on top of the gunite. The guys left as if they were scheduled elsewhere. - The process advertised on the web-site for crack repair was completely abandoned and the repair was done using the very process they disparaged as inferior to the advertised process.

The repaired cracks leaked and they had to come back and install additional ports and repair their repairs. - The actual plaster job appears to have gone well. Time will tell. That being said, the primaries of this business (Greg and his wife Jamey) are terrible to do business with. They DO NOT care about the customer or the customer's satisfaction. It's all about sales and getting paid. - Their communication with the client is little to non-existant.

They do not respond to emails or phone calls regularly. - They're arrogant - They show little regard for the client's expectations. They do not set expectations for arrival times of their workers, or for the completion of a job (4 months?) - The company constantly misses scheduled days set once a commitment is obtained. - They are never physically on the job (after the sale) and never check with the client for any problems areas (communications again).

All I can say is the entire ordeal with G&B Tile and Plaster has been a frustrating endeavor. I cannot recommend this company, and hope I'm never in need of any warranty service from them. Buyer beware.

Greg, A word of thanks to you and your company regarding the total remodel of our pool. The work exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier. I really appreciate that you were always available to answer any questions & that you kept us updated on the schedule and progress of the work. It was really amazing to watch your experienced crew do the fine work they did.

In August 2014 I hired Kenco pools in Longview, TX to redo my old pool and they sub-contracted with this company to put in new plaster. The plaster looked great for about 2 weeks and then it began to look spotted and tie-dyed. I was so disappointed, that I left a comment on his Facebook page. To make a long story short, Greg came and looked at the pool and offered to give it an acid bath to fix it.

He blamed the problem on the start up which we actually followed the directions he gave us. He was very arrogant and condescending to me about the situation. After he left, he sent an email stating that he would do the acid bath only if I removed the FB comment, which I did. The acid bath was done, but due to extreme rain, he decided to drain the pool and do an acid wash.

As the pool was being filled the spots started showing up again. Within no time the pool looked the same except the steps and the bench are now a different color that the sides and bottom, because the workers did not acid wash this area. I did the start up EXACTLY as Greg told me. I sent him an email every day with a picture of the water test so he could not say the problem was start up.

When the lawyer contacted Greg, the lawyer was told that the pool was perfect when he left which is a bold faced lie! Greg did not even come to see the pool. As of today out pool looks terrible and Greg will not respond to the lawyer. He has disabled the comment section on his FB page so that my latest comment was deleted. I would not even consider doing any business with this company. Greg is a big shot on the plaster board and there is nobody that will help us with our pool because they know his position.

So we are stuck with a tie-dyed, spotted pool. Don't be fooled by the beautiful pictures on his FB page. I bet there are others like me who are very dissatisfied and have been intimidated by this _____. I may not be able to post on FB Greg, but I will find other places to post this review.

Our experience with G&B Tile has been a nightmare. When they replastered our pool last summer (2016) they encouraged us to invest in a Chlorine Genie priced at $3800. We had never heard of this piece of equipment but it was supposed to be a fantastic source of chlorine that is generated by salt and automatically piped into the pool through underground tubing - it would eliminate the need for us to add expensive chlorine to the pool.

We bought the Genie. G&B installed it but did not train us on how to use it or clean it. Instead we were given a printed manual of fairly complex instructions. When it was time to winterize it, G&B came out and disassembled it. I made the mistake of not maintaining the water chemistry well during the winter and the pool turned green. When their service guy came out on April 9 to reattach the Genie for the spring, he said that the chlorine it would generate would quickly clean up the pool.

It did not and hasn't worked since then. I worked with our pool supply store and was able to use shock and algae control additions to clean it up quickly and get it back to sparkling clean. Since April no chlorine is being generated, it began leaking and was a mess. I began an endless series of phone calls to have Greg or a service person from G&B to come out and service it.

I was finally able to communicate with Greg about this and he instructed me to unplug it. 6 weeks later in late May Greg agreed to come out to look at the Chlorine Genie. When he looked at the Genie, he pumped out water which was overflowing inside the holding tank and got it running. He then said the venturi tubing was not working and chlorine was not flowing into the pool, rather it was flowing backwards toward the equipment.

He explained to me that G&B would come back and remove the venturi tubing, hand dig a trench to our pool and run pvc pipe from the Genie to the pool so chlorine would flow directly into the pool. This was fine with and we were excited for it to finally be working. Now it is June 26. I have texted Greg 6 times and called at least that many times and nothing has been done.

No trench, no functioning Chlorine Genie. Greg's explanations to me for why they've had a hard time getting out here is that they have so much business that they can't get out here, he was sick, he has had a flood in his warehouse. I am sympathetic to all that but it's been 5 weeks since he was here, promising to return to repair the Genie and meanwhile we are stuck with a $3800. piece of equipment that doesn't work.

I finally called in frustration several days ago and asked again when when when will you come fix this? He told me it was my fault for not maintaining the water chemistry properly in the pool and this caused the Genie not to work. It looks like we are stuck with no service for the Genie from a disreputable company. We are very disappointed and frustrated. I do not recommend this company. They do not provide service after the sale. Beware.

G&B Tile and Plaster is a very professional company that treats it's customers with respect and honesty. We got new tile and our pool replastered by G&B last summer. We are very pleased with the quality of the work that was done. I highly recommend them because of the unique process they use that ensures the longevity of the plaster and its ability to adhere to the surface long term. That's what sold me and their pricing is more than fair for a great value. They also stand by their work as evidenced by their warranty when most providers don't.
