Services
Gardens
Report
There are many landscape tools homeowners can use to control stormwater runoff, considered the largest source of pollution in Puget Sound. From planting trees to installing a rain garden or large cisterns, you can help minimize the excess rainwater runoff that washes toxic pollutants into Puget Sound each year.
Patios
Report
Some of the most requested landscape features we get at Ecoyards are paver patios, walkways, and driveways. Pavers offer many benefits over concrete. They come in a variety of rich colors, textures, and styles to fit your landscape design. Pavers are much easier to adjust and repair than concrete slabs that tend to crack over time. They're also aesthetically pleasing.
Renovation
Report
Our lawn installation and renovation techniques include lawn improvement practices such as aeration, compost topdressing, and overseeding, to reduce compaction, increase water infiltration, improve soil structure and natural disease control, and crowd out weeds. In some cases, grass may be thinned in some areas, diseased in others.

We'll set up a time to meet with you and to get a sense of what you want, your goals and your budget.

I cannot overstate how much I love the landscaping at our home after working with Andy, Jesus and the Ecoyards crew. We worked with them on our back yard in fall 2019, which involved leveling and replacing the lawn, installing trees, shrubs and flowers in new perimeter beds and raised planters, and building two paver patios. What a lifesaver to have such a phenomenal outdoor space to enjoy once pandemic lockdown started a few months later!

When it finally came time to think about the front yard, we didn't hesitate to call Ecoyards again, and we were absolutely delighted to have the same crew back again. The result is an amazing transformation, complete with basalt boulders, colorful sun and shade plants, a Japanese maple, a stunning centerpiece pot, a wrap-around paver pathway joining the one they built in back, new border lighting and an easy-to-use irrigation system. Andy is wonderful to work with (as is his go-to designer, Manda from Flora & Bee), with great communication, clear estimates and fair pricing, and Jesus and the crew work non-stop to bring the plan to life. Our new outdoor spaces are a pleasure to live in, and have added tremendous value to our home. Thanks Ecoyards!

Jesus and crew were fabulous. We appreciate their careful, diligent work and that they took the time to orient us to the new irrigation system. Andy's bid and communications were very clear. Thank you!

I cannot say enough about how fantastic the Ecoyards crew was! Jesus and his team worked incredibly hard and transformed my yard completely- removing a 60 year old double row of laurel and replacing with the artfully placed stones and carefully curated plants. Their work is unmatched! The flagstone patio is beautiful and the stonework is masterful. Thanks so much for creating this lovely space for us to enjoy for years to come!

Ecoyards exceeded all expectations. From beginning to end of the project, I always received timely email responses to all questions and was kept updated every step of the way. The entire team was very professional and courteous. They started and completed the job in the expected time frame and the quality of work was simply outstanding. I can't thank them enough for the great job. I love my new backyard!

Ecoyards first installed irrigation, then a few months later installed sod at our home. They did an excellent job with the installation and used good quality system/products. I had a really great experience working with them. The owner (Andy) was really nice and patient as far as scheduling (we were balancing multiple exterior projects) and communicated often and responded quickly.

Really appreciated the crews onsite as well. With both projects, aspects came up where they came and knocked to ask my opinion and give their suggestions. They didn't just come slap the sod in, but really took care doing thoughtful work. I am planning to work with them again in future years as we complete projects in the rest of the yard. Do plan ahead if you hire them because they're busy and book out! I highly recommend this company.

Ecoyards installed a drip system in our gardens a year ago. We are extremely pleased with the system and especially the ease of working with Andy (always responsive and pleasant) and the whole crew at Ecoyards. Our gardens consist mostly of perennials, flowering shrubs, and small trees. The drip system is ideal for our gardens and carried us through this past summer's long drought with no plants lost and very economical use of water. Ecoyards has been consistently responsive and supportive in addressing questions and concerns we had during this first year, and the electronic Rachio monitoring system works great and is easy to monitor and adjust. We highly recommend Ecoyards.

I had them do a huge irrigation job and it was flawless from start to finish. Andy was really easy to work with, his bid was fair and he stuck to it. Karl and the irrigation team were very knowledgeable, professional and respectful of our plants. Best of the best! I highly recommend Ecoyards!

Andy and his team at EcoYards did an amazing job installing a new fence for privacy and removing a couple trees. They were professional, on time, stayed in budget, and completed the job 1 day early. Andy sent us a *daily* email with updates, next steps and any issues, which is unheard of. They also went above & beyond by installing a post for our hammock. We can't thank them enough and wouldn't hesitate to recommend EcoYards to anyone.

I have seen some of their work around town and heard great things about them. After getting a very quick response and reasonable estimate we moved forward with them to build our raised bed. This is a big project a 10x20 ft. stacked block flower bed. Kim and her crew were happy to answer any questions we had and change plans as we met a few obsticles.

Our finished product is exactly what we wanted. They are probably some of the best landscapers and builders in the city and very easy to work with. Thank you Andy and Ecoyards!

Andy and his crew at Ecoyards did a major overhaul of my yard this spring that included extensive cleanup, installation of an irrigation system and many new plantings. Andy was prompt and helpful coming up with a design and estimate for the yard work, suggesting better plants that will survive long-term in the varying conditions in my yard. The work was done as-scheduled, and there were no surprises on their estimate.

The crew was very polite and respectful during the process as well. I run a real estate company and came across Ecoyards when some of our clients had a great experience with them. Based on my experience, I will keep recommending them to our future clients.

3 years ago, I had Andy and Ecoyards landscape a very long and very steep bank on the front of my house. It was a disaster, full of horsetail and other native weeds! They pulled up the 60 year old mess, designed and planted a beautiful perennial garden which has stood up well in the direct sun that it gets all day! It was a gigantic project that they executed on time and on budget.

Since then, the maintenance crew led, by Theresa, at Ecoyards as kept it in tip top shape. The plants have filled in and the weeds are under control. I am now having them back to help me design another small section of my yard. They are nice, honest, hard working people and really understand where to put plants so that they grow. I highly recommend EcoYards.

We hired Ecoyards to tackle a tricky ivy removal project on a sandy slope uphill from our house. Mountain beavers were chucking heaps of sand downhill into our yard and native ferns, shrubs and trees were totally overwhelmed by more than a decades-worth of ivy. It was a project that required a fair bit of collaboration and brainstorming to come up with ideas for how to get the ivy out, the best ways to stabilize the slope, how to tamp down the industrious mountain beavers (a native rodent) and revive the Northwest native plants. An Ecoyard's team led by Kim did an amazing job clearing the area, laying chicken wire in the most vulnerable spots and covering the loose soils with wood chips. Kim did really thoughtful research on the mountain beavers and plants to come up with a strategy to restore this area.

She was great to work, offering a variety of solutions and helping us settle on an approach that was affordable and effective. Kim and her crew were always on time, hardworking and efficient, careful around existing landscapes, and worked well with neighbors who needed to provide some access through their property to get the work done. It felt like we were a team trying to resolve the challenges with the site and I trusted that Kim was working hard to come up with smart solutions, taking care to meet and understand our needs without pressuring us to spend or do more than we were comfortable with.

I found painters, new fence contractors and a lawn care professional on HomeAdvisor. I got quotes from more than one contractor in each field. All of the contractors I talked to had 5 star ratings. All of the contractors I chose did excellent work at a fair price. I will continue to use my lawn care company indefinitely and will rehire the others if a need arises. I will gladly recommend HomeAdvisor to anyone looking for help with home improvement projects. Just great job!

Let me start by saying that the stone work that was done and the crew that worked on the project were exemplary. But I had some serious misgivings after hiring Andy for this project. DO NOT have him design your plantings. We all have our strengths and his is in stone work. I could have done a better job selecting colorful and diverse plantings and I know nothing about them.

My "colorful" garden is three shades of green. This even after he performs an extensive survey as to how much color and what kind you want, confuses me. When he deleted a tree and replaced it with a couple of ferns, he felt there should be no cost adjustment (tree = fern?). The plantings he delivered were small and immature that you could buy for $10 a pop at Home Depot.

Yet he charges hundreds. I understand markup. But I found this excessive. When he quoted the price, I assumed they would be relatively mature or at least not seedlings. Finally and most offensive was his lying. I can handle disagreements with contractors. But if you lie to your customers and they cannot trust you, you do not deserve their business.

He sold me on a timed irrigation system offering a one year warranty on the plantings if I purchased it. Weeks after he finished the work, one of trees turned brown. When I called him about it he said, "I don't have to do anything about it. You must have killed it."

Ecoyards recently did some work on our yard and we are extremly happy with the results. We had some land leveled out, new sod put down, some walkways created etc. and each item was completed on schedule with great quality. Andy was professional and direct with his commnication, willing to walk me through the details & ensure the finished product met my expectations. There was never any pressure to pay the final balance until we were satisified. I would highly recommend them and use them again in the future.

The is a small company of smart, creative people who do dynamite, environmentally responsible landscaping. Don't believe me? Just talk to their clients (I have). Or better still, call Andy the owner. He's a good dude and oversees jobs personally and his crew work hard to make sure everything is the way you want it. I have five friends who use Ecoyards and all of them are pleased with the work.

9-16-09 update: We recently worked with ecoyards again for help moving a fence back to the property line. They again did a great job moving the fencing, adding lattice for extra privacy, and incorporating one of our trees into the fence! Very Seattle. Definitely one of the best contracters I've ever worked with. It's great to work with someone you can trust.

We'd found out about Ecoyards by the work Andy and his team had done to our neighbors' yard across the street. We liked both the aesthetic of his work as well as the "eco" aspect. I contacted Andy via the web site on his sign. Andy came by and gave us an initial analysis and then came back to us with a design sketch and an estimate. We found the price fair and thought the plan was great.

Not only did Andy design a really nice, low-maintenance yard, but he completed it within the time frame he'd promised. He was also helpful in answering followup questions for us after the work was completed. Finding people who offer services like Andy to have good communication skills, fair pricing and clear timelines is almost impossible. We felt we really got lucky.

And now we couldn't be happier with our yard and have recommended Andy and the team to other friends as well as the people who stop by and compliment us on our nice landscaping!
