Air Conditioning
Report
Denver knows heat, with summers characterized by high and dry temperatures. When the warm weather starts coming, the last thing you want to worry about is whether or not your A/C is working. That's where Applewood comes in. We have the local experience and rigorously vetted, EPA certified employees to get the job done.
Heating
Report
At Applewood Plumbing, we understand that when the weather cools down, you don't have time to worry about whether or not your home heating is going to work properly. That's where Applewood Plumbing, Heating, and Air comes in.
Sump Pump Repair
Report
Your sump pump works to remove all the water that accumulates in your sump basin, frequently found below your basement. An improperly working sump pump is the leading cause of basement flooding, which is a very unfortunate - and very costly - problem to face.
Replacement
Report
Whether it's burst, cracked, leaky, or noisy, a pipe that isn't in perfect condition is a pipe that could severely damage your home while wasting both your time and money. Nobody wants that, which is why Applewood Plumbing provides the most comprehensive suite of pipe replacement and plumbing repair solutions in Denver, Boulder, and the surrounding metros.
Repair
Report
Did you know that a typical family of four uses 2,000 gallons of hot water each month? That's a lot of water. In fact, it's an amount that can send a flood of dollars out of your wallet if you're unfortunately relying on an outdated water heater.

Do not use this company. I wish I had paid attention to the other poor reviews. We had applewood come out to disconnect our garbage disposal, kitchen sink faucet, soap dispenser and insta hot form our marble kitchen counter so that our sink could be removed so that the marble guys could properly clean the countertop. The garbage disposal was working perfectly as was everything else prior to being disconnected by Applewood.

We were charged 1755$ for the removal of all of the above. Five days later the same plumber (Bruce B) came to re-install everything for another $1535.75. The garbage disposal started leaking under the sink immediately and was vibrating, which it never had done before. This got worse over the next few days to the point that it pulled the sink out of its position.

We had to have the marble guys come back to fix the sink and when we called Applewood to come back to fix the leak and the vibrating garbage disposal, a new plumber said the leak was because something wasnt tightened properly during the install and the vibrating was because one of the blades was no longer spinning. We were told that they couldnt fix this and they could charge us for a new garbage disposal.

So basically, everything was completely perfect until Applewood removed/reinstalled our garbage disposal charging over $3000, causing a leak, and somehow breaking the perfectly functioning disposal and offering for us to pay for a new one because they couldnt fix it. We will never, ever use this unethical company again. They do not stand behind their work. They are dishonest, charge a ton, and do not do good work. People make mistakes, things break, but if you can't take responsibility how can your customers trust you.

2 words: RIP OFF! Beware! They tried to take advantage of a single women with a nice address by telling me that I needed to replace my air conditioner for over $27,000! Seriously?! Not only did I NOT have to replace it, (if I had, it would have been a fraction of this quote) but it was fixed and thoroughly cleaned for $800. I have since heard this same horror story about Applewood from my neighbors. Very poor ethics, how are they in business?! See other reviews!

$5400 for a water heater. Very expensive. Bid and invoice never broken out. After telling friends about my experience, they had the same, where it seems like 3 time more than other like kind businesses.

This company focuses on selling you outrageously overpriced services and materials. I fell for their "Gold Service Club" scam, in which you supposedly pay a yearly fee and they come out and do a checkup / cleaning of your HVAC for free. They use it to find reasons to sell you things. The last time, the technician said I need a new control board for my furnace, and charged me $1200.

I later researched the control board and found that it retails for less than $200. My furnace and AC also are old and need replacement. The same technician told me it would run about $35,000. I checked with another HVAC company, and they quoted $10,800. That second company is installing my new HVAC as I'm writing this.

This predator pays for bits to post on google. Otherwise, horrible and they are thieves. I had a water heater installed and the tech changed paperwork to show it wasn't a water heater and I didn't catch the change. Now it's not doing well. Also, i got majorly ripped off on a heater installation. Crooks.

Tony Syracuse is a fantastic Licensed Master Plumber. He got the work done and took the time to give me some pointers on my home. Highly recommend!

Applewood Plumbing sent their Technician, Josh C, to my home to fix what was thought to be (by an Anonymous, independent pest control company) a sewer leak under my mobile home. He arrived at 8:00 sharp on Wednesday morning, May 4,2022. He was extremely professional, patient and courteous while I explained the situation I had been living with for many days. the infestation of over 100+ flies PER DAY (huge bluish-green flies) and a terrible odor coming from under my mobile home - isolated to the spare bedroom and the master bedroom/bathroom.

He entered the bathroom found the floor completely covered with dead flies. He removed the Access panel located in the master bathroom and went outside to further investigate under my trailer. He came back in and told me he felt it was a dead animal and not a leak. No water leaking down from up above, no broken pipes, and no wet ground under my home.

He went out to his truck and came back in with a written summary of his investigation AND a referral to a Restoration company that Applewood uses for situations like mine. I was so perplexed over the thought of an animal, dead or alive, under my trailer - causing that terrible smell and all those dirty, filthy flies inside my home that my two sons and I had been battling and fighting to stay on top of.; but Josh was so positive in his demeanor, I had no doubt he was right and trusted his knowledge! Besides, he handed me the name and phone number for Restoration that was going to remedy my pain and anguish!

It's the kind of confidence and knowledge that Josh portrayed that I appreciate and and cling to that is so helpful. I highly recommend Applewood Plumbing AND Josh to any family member, friend or stranger with no reservations or hesitation!

I've used this company in the past and got good results with a fair price, but this time they really ripped me off. Charged me $950 for a thermal expansion tank and pressure relief valve replacement on my hot water heater tank. The products they used cost at most $120 and the tech was at the house in total for less than an hour. Everything the tech did to the water heater took him only 3 sentences to describe.

I would of not agreed to the pricing if I was home but my wife was working from home and in a virtual meeting and just signed off because she didn't know any better. I thought I could trust this company on a fair price but now I know that is not true. I will never be using them again and I highly encourage others to stay far away unless you like throwing money away.

Don't be a victim of their scam, Karma is bad for this company. Charged me over $10,000 for a 50 gallon water heater replacement.

I am an out of town landlord and it's extremely important that I use a company I can trust! I have used Applewood Plumbing for years and I have never been disappointed. However, on this visit, I was especially pleased with the services from Matt. He came to give me a complimentary inspection of my heating system! While he was there, he also tightened a handle on the bathtub & caulked! Matt you're the best!

My tenant was so pleased! It's the ATTENTION TO DETAILS that are "over the moon" important to me! This company is the finest and Matt is a super example of their professionalism!

Nathan was wonderful! Let's get the negative out of the way first; they are not inexpensive. BUT, they do a fantastic job. 1. They come quickly; for our toilet problem, one plumber could not come for almost two weeks, Applewood came out that afternoon. 2. Their trip charge is only $29; others are much higher. 3. Cleared drain clog was guaranteed for a year. 4.

They explain all costs up front and what the job entails. 5. They charge by a book rate (much like auto mechanics), not hourly. 6. Charges are the same on weekends as they are during the week. 7. Security. Technician telephones before he comes and they e-mail the name and photo of the technician. 8. They work clean; after the job you'd never know the repair was done. 9.

You can save some money with their online coupons - just check their website. 10. I know a little about plumbing and was impressed with his honesty and the quality of his work. 11. My wife and I are elderly and never felt we were being "hoodwinked"; service was fair and honest. 12. Will definitely use them again.

These guys did a good job. They are expensive. Just know that going in. When a part from the manufacturer runs 50.00. They charge over 500.00 for this one part plus 45 minutes to install something is wrong with this picture. But if you can honestly say these are fair prices and the owners can sleep at night knowing this then great. Life goes on. They did offer a 50 discount.

So that's something. But like everyone else that blames their increases on supply and the pandemic, they really are not different than other companies in the industry and have not set themselves apart as a value adding company. Do yourself a favor shop around if you can definitely less expensive places. Edit- Response is a standard response and this is what every company in the industry wants but does not explain at all why you over charge the customer and they did not get it right the first time. Furnace quit working after 4 days and they had to come back. Tried to charge another 750.00 for an ac control and install. But decided it was all under warranty since the 1st tech did not diagnose the entire system correctly.

Applewood is simply operating on another level! Kind and totally transparent customer service (Katie) and trusting, high-quality work from Jeff Kampshneider who we request every time now. We moved into our new home over the pandemic and quickly built a relationship with Applewood, purely based on their great reputation. Jeff, has been to our house numerous times for various upgrades we've made, and I couldn't share a higher recommendation of Jeff or Applewood. Jeff's candor and honesty is exemplary, and dare I say.exceptional in these times. And, it truly feels he's working in my family's best interest. Really respect that. Bravo to Applewood. You've gained a loyal household client for the long-term. Keep up the great work.

The plumber that came on 03/09/22 named Jeff K. looked me directly in my eyes and advised me that the water main valve in my house did not work. Because it was in a hidden spot and I had never needed to use it before, I believed him. This valve needed to work so the leak in the pipe could be fixed. WELL, the next day I discovered that the water shut off valve to the whole house DOES work.

It was apparent to me that he did not think I would double check the valve. He quoted me several thousands of dollars to install valves, work that DID NOT need to be done. PLEASE BEWARE AND ALWAYS GET 2ND OPINIONS! I was very disappointed due to the google reviews online and the rating with the Better Business Bureau. I will be filing a complaint with them also, just because I'm a woman don't assume I'm stupid!

That being said, I simply cannot believe that a Plumber would not know that turning a knob left is "lefty loosey" and right is "righty tighty" The knob was ABSOLUTELY NOT hard to turn to the right at all. He deliberately tried to set me up to do work that was not needed so he could charge me $2,000/$4000 thousand dollars more than was needed. This guy JEFF K probably in his 50's, seemed to know what he was talking about, was very nice and personable and was very convincing in what he told me.

I had a perfect experience with them. Professional honest and responsive with great prices. I had the pleasure of working with Sue Ann and Sabrina when I called in. They were able to get someone out the same day my furnace was acting up. Tyler Weston arrived on time. He was knowledgeable and honest. He went the extra mile with service so my husband and I decided to sign up with them as a gold membership.

I was having my problem with my furnace and called them in the morning to schedule a same day appointment. They were very polite and scheduled a 5-7pm arrival time. They called me at 7:00pm to let me Know that they wouldn't be able to send anyone. Don't rely on applewood

They are serious about customer satisfaction. Their employees are extremely hard workers that care about doing a good job. They sent an electrician back to our house because a manager thought the install could have been cleaner. They discovered this through their own quality control. I had no idea until they called and asked if they could come out and make it look better. An electrician moved an outlet and switch to a slightly better location on my furnace. I had no idea there was a problem. But I did notice it was cleaner looking after the second installation.

I've used Applewood twice now. Once for extensive sewer line repair and this time for repair to my furnace. Aaron, the technician, was dispatched immediately and was at my residence in 30 minutes. Took the time to explain the issue, show me how my furnace works, and make the repair. Took him less than an hour. Cannot recommend Applewood enough. Professional people, excellent work, and customer service that goes above and beyond all expectations.

Brian was on time, friendly and so helpful! Great job and will always use Applewood for services! We had a new 240v outlet installed in our garage for a vintage power tool that needed a different type of socket than normal and he was great and quality work!

Short version: Applewood tried to take advantage of vulnerable 85 & 86 year olds by claiming they needed to spend $11,000 to REPLACE a clogged sewer line and supposed clay pipe in 1982 house. I got another company who videoed & cleaned sewer line - no blockage, no clay pipe, no need to replace anything. No need to pay $10,500 more than we needed to.

More detailed info: My parents called Applewood (Arvada) about a washing machine standpipe that was overflowing in the basement. My parents probably came across as confused (note age & my mom is still siffering side effects of chemo treatment in 2020) and desperate to get it fixed (the kids are trying to get them to move into senior housing). The technician took advantage of this by taking a video (of their pipes?) and saying that the clay pipe (under concrete in a basement?) was cracked and approx. 20 ft of sewer line would need to be replaced.

The quote was $11,000! They showed my parents some video, which according to my dad showed build up on the pipes but that was all they could see. Again, look at their age. My parents arranged for them to come out the following Tues morning to do the work. What makes this particularly shocking is (a) my parents are so frugal they will save 2 tablespoons of peas to eat later & they didn't check reviews or references (again, note age) and (b) apparently they did not get anything in writing from the technician. Fortunately, my brother & I called Rocky Mountain Sewer-Jet (owned by a friend) and scheduled them to look at it on the Monday.

We snaked the sewer line on Sat. and there was a tiny bit of resistance, but things were fine when we ran the washer. Canceled Applewood. RMSJ came out, cleaned line & said everything looked fine to the street. I called Applewood for a copy of the estimate "before we got the work done" & confirmed that the estimate really was $11,000. (I thought maybe my easily confused parents may have gotten something wrong).

I asked the person to email me the estimate because my parents were confused about what needed to be done. She said she would email, but never did, probably because she realized something was fishy.

Arrived home from traveling to a 41 degrees house! Home Smart was so busy couldn't come until two days later. Offered to pay portion of bill if I found another service. Applewood came through within a couple of hours! Andrew arrived on time, diagnosed the problem. It was minor, thank goodness! He ran my furnace through two sessions to be sure everything was working!

Thank you Andrew and Applewood for prompt efficient service. The receptionist was very professional and understood I needed help immediately as this was a very cold day! Thank goodness for Applewood/Andrew! Home smart did check with me. By the way price was very reasonable!

We had outstanding service from Applewood from the minute we called them! It was the day after Christmas on a Sunday and we had electrical problems and the lights went out. I called the nice scheduler at Applewood and she had Sean Disney out within an hour to make repairs. Sean was extremely knowledgeable, polite and well mannered, and very friendly!

Within a few minutes he diagnose the problem as a breaker problem and put in a new one and cleaned and adjusted the other breakers. I not only was not charged for a Sunday emergency call but I was given a discount. I will always use Applewood from here on out! Mark Guthrie

Wow, I figured with all of their "great quality, friendly service" commercials, they would be a decent choice to get an estimate for replacing my outdated breaker panel. Good grief. $9900 for a breaker panel? Now I see all the poor reviews. What a shame. Fortunately I got them on a week when they were not charging a fee to come give me the estimate, so I didn't have to spend anything. I will say that the tech was professional, prompt and polite. I vaguely recall having a similar experience with them before. Never again.

There is a good reason for their 2-star rating. They are all show and no go. Tried to get them to come out and do some work. Never was able to get ahold of them. Wouldn't return calls, did not respond to emails. Even know somebody there. ended up using Rooter Town who came out on a Sunday, no upcharges and did a great job on a difficult leak situation they get 5-stars+ stay away from applewood!

Applewood is not transparent and are dishonest in their HVAC Department. Purchased "Gold Membership" and was offered a "Free" Inspection. Which I booked 3 weeks in advance. 8:00 pm I received a call that the tech was too busy to arrive the next day for my "Free" service. After I told them it was unacceptable since they offered this service, they found another tech to come later in the day.

When the tech Stephen Richardson arrived he said the call was not free and I would be charged. We argued over the Membership Benefits and he left without doing any inspection at all. I called and was told yes my membership covered this "Free" Service and Applewood would refund my membership and send someone to complete this inspection. About 1 hour I was called back and told Applewood was dropping my membership and they couldn't send anyone. I've been using Applewood for about 5 Years as a loyal customer with no issues in the past.

Even recently August 23rd I paid almost $500 to install one GFI Garage Outlet. You tell me if that isn't overcharging?! I never said a word and I've even left 5 Star Reviews. To me Present Applewood is more than happy to come to your house and charge but if you have a "Free" Service they and even their techs do all they can to get out of the call or try and charge.

Our water heater went out suddenly making a mess. We called Applewood Plumbing and they had someone in route within an hour. The technician Brian N. came out and explained everything to us and gave us the available options. It was too late in the day to replace the hot water heater, but he was back out by 8:30 the next morning and removed the old heater and installed the new one in just 2.5 hours.

The new heater now has a tray underneath it that drains to the floor drain and a water alarm installed in the tray to warn if there is a leak. Brian was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable and did the job quickly and efficiently. Overall an excellent experience with Applewood Plumbing and with Brian. I would be comfortable recommending them to anyone I know.

Believe the other reviews about Applewood ripping people off. I will add my story to the long list. They charged me $2200 to replace a piece of Conduit leading to my electrical panel. I am out of state, and in escrow, so kind of desperate to get the job done. The job took 2.5 hours to complete. This is criminal. The parts (PCV pipe) were less than $50 so they charged me a labor rate of about $870 per hour.

The technician also quoted me a price to install a breaker for $2,185 standard or $1750 for "Club Members" what ever that is. His sales pitch was that I would not have to walk all the way to the main breaker (maybe 30 feet) to flip the breaker switch. Pathetic. He also tried to have me replace a perfectly good sub-panel for $5,383. I declined both options.

Below is the inspector report detailing the original problem, the photo from the technician after the repair was done, and a copy of the quote. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these jokers.

Couldn't solve a problem that a non plumber fixed in 1/2 hour. Lied about hot water heater codes and gave an absurd quote regarding a replacement that we didn't even need.

Jan 08, 2021
I had to pay $29 for them to come out and quote completing a sink installation. I was expecting about $300 or so since it was a pretty manageable repair. Their quote came in north of $600. I was shocked. I asked the tech how many hours it would take. He said about 2 which would have made this repair cost $300 per hour. The actual repair, completed by another company, took about an hour and a half so Applewood's cost would have been $400 per hour or so.

I was incredulous and told him to forget it. He didn't waiver at all or offer to adjust the pricing. Too expensive for me to use this business. Maybe others have better experience with them, but I won't call them again.

Update 4/13/16: Had excellent HVAC Service today from Terry Wolfgang - I specifically requested him as he did a thorough job last year updating my AC system and I had no troubles all summer. He finished with a previous job early and called to see if he could come earlier which was fantastic.

I called Applewood and wanted to see someone about upgrading the electrical system of my house. Keith came over on a Saturday and was ready to start right away. He explained to me what would be needed and listened to my questions and concerns.
