North Side Plumbing & Heating Co., Inc. has been doing business in the Fort Wayne community for over 80 years. In 1929, John R. Hartman knew that the Great Depression didn't stop pipes from bursting or drains from clogging, and he believed that the Fort Wayne area needed a plumbing company that offered quality service at an affordable price.

He began his business by operating out of a tool box and traveling by trolley, but as business grew, he moved into the back of his grandmother's grocery store at the corner of State and Clinton streets. While the grocery store has disappeared, the business has not, and it has remained in its same location for over eight decades.
