Solar Attic Cooling

Attic temperatures can exceed 160°F during hot summer days. Proper attic ventilation can reduce attic temperatures by up to 50°F.1 No matter how much insulation you have in your attic, heat can transfer into adjacent living spaces. In fact, extra insulation can actually trap heat and increase temperatures.

Solar Water Heating

Solar collectors on the roof of your home are connected through a series of pipes to a solar water tank. City water pressure forces the cool water in your tank up these pipes and into the solar collectors. The collectors trap the sun's heat and transfer it to the water inside.

Individual solar cells, made of thin layers of silicon, are grouped together to form photovoltaic (PV) solar modules which, when installed as a component of a complete solar system, generate electricity.' When sunlight strikes the PV solar module cells installed on the roof of your home, a chemical reaction releases electrons that generate an electric current.
