We started Aluminum Fences Direct because the larger contractors, with their better pricing, were able to compete better for the ornamental and aluminum fence jobs leaving the smaller guys to overcharge or just not get the jobs because they couldn't buy as low as the larger guys. The larger fence contractors were buying in volume or buying from China and assembling it themselves, whereas the smaller contractors didn't have that capability.

We know this to be true because we had a small fencing company that we started in 1999. We ended up selling it in part, because we saw this same competition which made it very hard to be profitable.
